Isonemality and mononemality of woven fabrics

Bohdan Zelinka (1983)

Aplikace matematiky

The paper studies the diagrams of woven fabrics consisting of white and black squares as geometrical objects and described their symmetries. The concepts of isonemality and mononemality due to B. Grünbaum and G. C. Shephard are used. A conjecture of these authors is proved in a particular case.

Maximization of distances of regular polygons on a circle

Filip Guldan (1980)

Aplikace matematiky

This paper presents the solution of a basic problem defined by J. Černý which solves a concrete everyday problem in railway and road transport (the problem of optimization of time-tables by some criteria).

Minkowski sums of Cantor-type sets

Kazimierz Nikodem, Zsolt Páles (2010)

Colloquium Mathematicae

The classical Steinhaus theorem on the Minkowski sum of the Cantor set is generalized to a large class of fractals determined by Hutchinson-type operators. Numerous examples illustrating the results obtained and an application to t-convex functions are presented.
