Reduction theorem for general connections

Josef Janyška (2011)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

We prove the (first) reduction theorem for general and classical connections, i.e. we prove that any natural operator of a general connection Γ on a fibered manifold and a classical connection Λ on the base manifold can be expressed as a zero order operator of the curvature tensors of Γ and Λ and their appropriate derivatives.

Reductive homogeneous spaces and nonassociative algebras

Alberto Elduque (2020)

Communications in Mathematics

The purpose of these survey notes is to give a presentation of a classical theorem of Nomizu [Nom54] that relates the invariant affine connections on reductive homogeneous spaces and nonassociative algebras.

Reeb vector fields and open book decompositions

Vincent Colin, Ko Honda (2013)

Journal of the European Mathematical Society

We determine parts of the contact homology of certain contact 3-manifolds in the framework of open book decompositions, due to Giroux. We study two cases: when the monodromy map of the compatible open book is periodic and when it is pseudo-Anosov. For an open book with periodic monodromy, we verify the Weinstein conjecture. In the case of an open book with pseudo-Anosov monodromy, suppose the boundary of a page of the open book is connected and the fractional Dehn twist coefficient c equals k = n , where...

Refined Kato inequalities in riemannian geometry

Marc Herzlich (2000)

Journées équations aux dérivées partielles

We describe the recent joint work of the author with David M. J. Calderbank and Paul Gauduchon on refined Kato inequalities for sections of vector bundles living in the kernel of natural first-order elliptic operators.

Reflections with respect to submanifolds in contact geometry

P. Bueken, Lieven Vanhecke (1993)

Archivum Mathematicum

We study to what extent some structure-preserving properties of the geodesic reflection with respect to a submanifold of an almost contact manifold influence the geometry of the submanifold and of the ambient space.

Regular and biregular functions in the sense of Fueter - some problems

W. Królikowski, R. Michael Porter (1994)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

The biregular functions in the sense of Fueter are investigated. In particular, the class of LR-biregular mappings (left regular with a right regular inverse) is introduced. Moreover, the existence of non-affine biregular mappings is established via examples. Some applications to the quaternionic manifolds are given.
