Using the geometry of the projective plane over the finite field ${𝔽}_q$, we construct a Hermitian Lorentzian lattice $L_q$ of dimension $(q^2+q+2)$ defined over a certain number ring $𝒪$ that depends on $q$. We show that infinitely many of these lattices are $p$-modular, that is, $p{L}_q^{\text{'}}=L_q$, where $p$ is some prime in $𝒪$ such that ${\left|p\right|}^2=q$. Let $F\subset C^{\ast }(X)$ be a vector sublattice over $ℝ$ which separates points from closed sets of $X$. The compactification $e_{F}X$ obtained by embedding $X$ in a real cube via the diagonal map, is different, in general, from the Wallman compactification $\omega (Z(F))$. In this paper, it is shown that there exists a lattice $F_z$ containing $F$ such that $\omega (Z(F))=\omega (Z(F_z))=e_{F}X$. In particular this implies that $\omega (Z(F))\ge e_{F}X$. Let $X\subset {\mathbb{P}}^n$ be an integral and non-degenerate $m$-dimensional variety defined over $ℝ$. For any $P\in {\mathbb{P}}^n\left(ℝ\right)$ the real $X$-rank $r_{X,ℝ}\left(P\right)$ is the minimal cardinality of $S\subset X\left(ℝ\right)$ such that $P\in \langle S\rangle$. Here we extend to the real case an upper bound for the $X$-rank due to Landsberg and Teitler.

We show that any ${\Sigma }_s$-product of at most $𝔠$-many $L\Sigma (\le \omega )$-spaces has the $L\Sigma (\le \omega )$-property. This result generalizes some known results about $L\Sigma (\le \omega )$-spaces. On the other hand, we prove that every ${\Sigma }_s$-product of monotonically monolithic spaces is monotonically monolithic, and in a similar form, we show that every ${\Sigma }_s$-product of Collins-Roscoe spaces has the Collins-Roscoe property. We show that every operator from ${\ell }_s$ to ${\ell }_p\otimes ̂{\ell }_q$ is compact when 1 ≤ p,q < s and that every operator from ${\ell }_s$ to ${\ell }_p\widehat{\otimes ̂}{\ell }_q$ is compact when 1/p + 1/q > 1 + 1/s.

Let ${\mathrm{𝙴𝙼𝙱𝙴𝙳}}_{k\to d}$ be the following algorithmic problem: Given a finite simplicial complex $K$ of dimension at most $k$, does there exist a (piecewise linear) embedding of $K$ into ${ℝ}^d$? Known results easily imply polynomiality of ${\mathrm{𝙴𝙼𝙱𝙴𝙳}}_{k\to 2}$ ($k=1,2$; the case $k=1,d=2$ is graph planarity) and of ${\mathrm{𝙴𝙼𝙱𝙴𝙳}}_{k\to 2k}$ for all $k\ge 3$.
