Delays induced in population dynamics

Eva Sánchez (2003)

Banach Center Publications

Similarity:

This paper provides an introduction to delay differential equations together with a short survey on state-dependent delay differential equations arising in population dynamics. Our main goal is to examine how the delays emerge from inner mechanisms in the model, how they induce oscillations and stability switches in the system and how the qualitative behaviour of a biological model depends on the form of the delay.

Modeling the role of constant and time varying recycling delay on an ecological food chain

Banibrata Mukhopadhyay, Rakhi Bhattacharyya (2010)

Applications of Mathematics

Similarity:

We consider a mathematical model of nutrient-autotroph-herbivore interaction with nutrient recycling from both autotroph and herbivore. Local and global stability criteria of the model are studied in terms of system parameters. Next we incorporate the time required for recycling of nutrient from herbivore as a constant discrete time delay. The resulting DDE model is analyzed regarding stability and bifurcation aspects. Finally, we assume the recycling delay in the oscillatory form to...

Finite-time outer synchronization between two complex dynamical networks with time delay and noise perturbation

Zhi-cai Ma, Yong-zheng Sun, Hong-jun Shi (2016)

Kybernetika

Similarity:

In this paper, the finite-time stochastic outer synchronization and generalized outer synchronization between two complex dynamic networks with time delay and noise perturbation are studied. Based on the finite-time stability theory, sufficient conditions for the finite-time outer synchronization are obtained. Numerical examples are examined to illustrate the effectiveness of the analytical results. The effect of time delay and noise perturbation on the convergence time are also numerically...

Synchronization of time-delayed systems with discontinuous coupling

Hong-jun Shi, Lian-ying Miao, Yong-zheng Sun (2017)

Kybernetika

Similarity:

This paper concerns the synchronization of time-delayed systems with periodic on-off coupling. Based on the stability theory and the comparison theorem of time-delayed differential equations, sufficient conditions for complete synchronization of systems with constant delay and time-varying delay are established. Compared with the results based on the Krasovskii-Lyapunov method, the sufficient conditions established in this paper are less restrictive. The theoretical results show that...

Time delays in proliferation and apoptosis for solid avascular tumour

Urszula Foryś, Mikhail Kolev (2003)

Banach Center Publications

Similarity:

The role of time delays in solid avascular tumour growth is considered. The model is formulated in terms of a reaction-diffusion equation and mass conservation law. Two main processes are taken into account-proliferation and apoptosis. We introduce time delay first in underlying apoptosis only and then in both processes. In the absence of necrosis the model reduces to one ordinary differential equation with one discrete delay which describes the changes of tumour radius. Basic properties...

Characterization of shadowing for linear autonomous delay differential equations

Mihály Pituk, John Ioannis Stavroulakis (2025)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

A well-known shadowing theorem for ordinary differential equations is generalized to delay differential equations. It is shown that a linear autonomous delay differential equation is shadowable if and only if its characteristic equation has no root on the imaginary axis. The proof is based on the decomposition theory of linear delay differential equations.

Passivity analysis of uncertain stochastic neural network with leakage and distributed delays under impulsive perturbations

Kybernetika

Similarity:

In this paper, the problem of passivity analysis for a class of uncertain stochastic neural networks with mixed delays and impulsive control is investigated. The mixed delays include constant delay in the leakage term, discrete and distributed delays. The discrete delays are assumed to be time-varying and belong to a given interval, which means that the lower and upper bounds of interval time-varying delays are available. By using Lyapunov stability theory, stochastic analysis, linear...

Influence of time delays on the Hahnfeldt et al. angiogenesis model dynamics

Marek Bodnar, Urszula Foryś (2009)

Applicationes Mathematicae

Similarity:

We study the influence of time delays on the dynamics of the general Hahnfeldt et al. model of an angiogenesis process. We analyse the dynamics of the system for different values of the parameter α which reflects the strength of stimulation of the vessel formation process. Time delays are introduced in three subprocesses: tumour growth, stimulation and inhibition of vessel formation (represented by endothelial cell dynamics). We focus on possible destabilisation of the positive steady...

Delay-dependent asymptotic stabilitzation for uncertain time-delay systems with saturating actuators

Pin-Lin Liu (2005)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

This paper concerns the issue of robust asymptotic stabilization for uncertain time-delay systems with saturating actuators. Delay-dependent criteria for robust stabilization via linear memoryless state feedback have been obtained. The resulting upper bound on the delay time is given in terms of the solution to a Riccati equation subject to model transformation. Finally, examples are presented to show the effectiveness of our result.
