A quadratic optimal control problem for a class of linear discrete distributed systems

Mostafa Rachik, Mustapha Lhous, Ouafa El Kahlaoui (2006)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

A linear quadratic optimal control problem for a class of discrete distributed systems is analyzed. To solve this problem, we introduce an adequate topology and establish that optimal control can be determined though an inversion of the appropriate isomorphism. An example and a numerical approach are given.

Unmaximized inclusion necessary conditions for nonconvex constrained optimal control problems

ESAIM: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations

Similarity:

Necessary conditions of optimality in the form of Unmaximized Inclusions (UI) are derived for optimal control problems with state constraints. The conditions presented here generalize earlier optimality conditions to problems that may be nonconvex. The derivation of UI-type conditions in the absence of the convexity assumption is of particular importance when deriving necessary conditions for constrained problems. We illustrate this feature by establishing, as an application, optimality...

Feedback in state constrained optimal control

Francis H. Clarke, Ludovic Rifford, R. J. Stern (2002)

ESAIM: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations

Similarity:

An optimal control problem is studied, in which the state is required to remain in a compact set S . A control feedback law is constructed which, for given ε > 0 , produces ε -optimal trajectories that satisfy the state constraint universally with respect to all initial conditions in S . The construction relies upon a constraint removal technique which utilizes geometric properties of inner approximations of S and a related trajectory tracking result. The control feedback is shown to possess...

Control structure in optimization problems of bar systems

Leszek Mikulski (2004)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

Optimal design problems in mechanics can be mathematically formulated as optimal control tasks. The minimum principle is employed in solving such problems. This principle allows us to write down optimal design problems as Multipoint Boundary Value Problems (MPBVPs). The dimension of MPBVPs is an essential restriction that decides on numerical difficulties. Optimal control theory does not give much information about the control structure, i.e., about the sequence of the forms of the right-hand...

Differential stability of solutions to air quality control problems in urban area

Piotr Holnicki, Jan Sokołowski, Antoni Żochowski (1987)

Aplikace matematiky

Similarity:

The convex optimal control problem for a system described by the parabolic equation is considered. The form of the right derivative of an optimal solution with respect to the parameter is derived. The applications to an air quality control problem are discussed. Numerical result are provided.
