Strong reflexivity of Abelian groups

Montserrat Bruguera, María Jesús Chasco (2001)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

A reflexive topological group G is called strongly reflexive if each closed subgroup and each Hausdorff quotient of the group G and of its dual group is reflexive. In this paper we establish an adequate concept of strong reflexivity for convergence groups. We prove that complete metrizable nuclear groups and products of countably many locally compact topological groups are BB-strongly reflexive.

The concept of boundedness and the Bohr compactification of a MAP Abelian group

Jorge Galindo, Salvador Hernández (1999)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Let G be a maximally almost periodic (MAP) Abelian group and let ℬ be a boundedness on G in the sense of Vilenkin. We study the relations between ℬ and the Bohr topology of G for some well known groups with boundedness (G,ℬ). As an application, we prove that the Bohr topology of a topological group which is topologically isomorphic to the direct product of a locally convex space and an -group, contains “many” discrete C-embedded subsets which are C*-embedded in their Bohr compactification. This...

The Gruenhage property, property *, fragmentability, and σ-isolated networks in generalized ordered spaces

Harold Bennett, David Lutzer (2013)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

We examine the Gruenhage property, property * (introduced by Orihuela, Smith, and Troyanski), fragmentability, and the existence of σ-isolated networks in the context of linearly ordered topological spaces (LOTS), generalized ordered spaces (GO-spaces), and monotonically normal spaces. We show that any monotonically normal space with property * or with a σ-isolated network must be hereditarily paracompact, so that property * and the Gruenhage property are equivalent in monotonically normal spaces....
