Calculations of the hurricane eye motion based on singularity propagation theory.
The local, regional and global geodetic networks are recently almost exclusively observed by satellite radionavigation methods, such as the U.S. Global Positioning System (GPS), and the Russian navigation system GLONASS. The unprecedented accuracy of geodetic satellite positioning allows determination of the geocentric site coordinates at millimetre level. The paper points to complex adjustment model applied for combination of 3D coordinates observed in permanent and epoch-wise satellite networks....
A nonlinear differential system for describing an air-water system in groundwater hydrology is given. The system is written in a fractional flow formulation, i.e., in terms of a saturation and a global pressure. A continuous-time version of the finite element method is developed and analyzed for the approximation of the saturation and pressure. The saturation equation is treated by a Galerkin finite element method, while the pressure equation is treated by a mixed finite element method. The analysis...
The paper presents in a generalized form the problem of the geodetic network adjustment by the Helmert-Pranis Pranievich groups method (groups with junction points included or not). The adjustment problem, as well as the cofactor matrix derivation for the partial-independent and linkage unknowns, was completely formulated by transformed weight matrix definition and usage. A complete sequence of the computing stages for the geodetic networks divided into groups without junction points was given for...
We consider a rotating fluid in a domain with rough horizontal boundaries. The Rossby number, kinematic viscosity and roughness are supposed of characteristic size . We prove a convergence theorem on solutions of Navier-Stokes Coriolis equations, as goes to zero, in the well prepared case. We show in particular that the limit system is a two-dimensional Euler equation with a nonlinear damping term due to boundary layers. We thus generalize the results obtained on flat boundaries with the classical...
We tried to reproduce results measured in the wind tunnel experiment with a CFD simulation provided by numerical model PALM. A realistic buildings layout from the Prague-Dejvice quarter has been chosen as a testing domain because solid validation campaign for PALM simulation of Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL) over this quarter was documented in the past. The question of input data needed for such simulation and capability of the model to capture correctly the inlet profile and its turbulence structure...
The goal of this talk is to describe the Lamé operator which drives the propagation of linear elastic waves. The main motivation for me is the work I have done in collaboration with Michel Campillo’s group from LGIT (Grenoble) on passive imaging in seismology. From this work, several mathematical problems emerged: equipartition of energy between and waves, high frequency description of surface waves in a stratified medium and related inverse spectral problems. We discuss the following topics:What...
The use of parallel computers makes it feasible to simulate elastic waves throughout large heterogeneous structures, and new domain decomposition methods can be used to increase their efficiency and decrease the computing time spent in the simulation. In this paper we introduce a simple parallel algorithm for the propagation of elastic waves in complex heterogeneous media after a finite element discretization. This method performs more efficiently than classic domain decomposition techniques based...
