Convolution of radius functions on ℝ³

Konstanty Holly (1994)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

We reduce the convolution of radius functions to that of 1-variable functions. Then we present formulas for computing convolutions of an abstract radius function on ℝ³ with various integral kernels - given by elementary or discontinuous functions. We also prove a theorem on the asymptotic behaviour of a convolution at infinity. Lastly, we deduce some estimates which enable us to find the asymptotics of the velocity and pressure of a fluid (described by the Navier-Stokes equations) in the boundary...

Corrector Analysis of a Heterogeneous Multi-scale Scheme for Elliptic Equations with Random Potential

Guillaume Bal, Wenjia Jing (2014)

ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis - Modélisation Mathématique et Analyse Numérique

This paper analyzes the random fluctuations obtained by a heterogeneous multi-scale first-order finite element method applied to solve elliptic equations with a random potential. Several multi-scale numerical algorithms have been shown to correctly capture the homogenized limit of solutions of elliptic equations with coefficients modeled as stationary and ergodic random fields. Because theoretical results are available in the continuum setting for such equations, we consider here the case of a second-order...

Corrector results for a parabolic problem with a memory effect

Patrizia Donato, Editha C. Jose (2010)

ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis

The aim of this paper is to provide the correctors associated to the homogenization of a parabolic problem describing the heat transfer. The results here complete the earlier study in [Jose, Rev. Roumaine Math. Pures Appl.54 (2009) 189–222] on the asymptotic behaviour of a problem in a domain with two components separated by an ε-periodic interface. The physical model established in [Carslaw and Jaeger, The Clarendon Press, Oxford (1947)] prescribes on the interface the condition that the flux...
