Some properties and applications of equicompact sets of operators

E. Serrano, C. Piñeiro, J. M. Delgado (2007)

Studia Mathematica

Let X and Y be Banach spaces. A subset M of (X,Y) (the vector space of all compact operators from X into Y endowed with the operator norm) is said to be equicompact if every bounded sequence (xₙ) in X has a subsequence ( x k ( n ) ) such that ( T x k ( n ) ) is uniformly convergent for T ∈ M. We study the relationship between this concept and the notion of uniformly completely continuous set and give some applications. Among other results, we obtain a generalization of the classical Ascoli theorem and a compactness criterion...

Some remarks on descriptive characterizations of the strong McShane integral

Sokol Bush Kaliaj (2019)

Mathematica Bohemica

We present the full descriptive characterizations of the strong McShane integral (or the variational McShane integral) of a Banach space valued function f : W X defined on a non-degenerate closed subinterval W of m in terms of strong absolute continuity or, equivalently, in terms of McShane variational measure V F generated by the primitive F : W X of f , where W is the family of all closed non-degenerate subintervals of W .

Strict topologies as topological algebras

Surjit Singh Khurana (2001)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Let X be a completely regular Hausdorff space, C b ( X ) the space of all scalar-valued bounded continuous functions on X with strict topologies. We prove that these are locally convex topological algebras with jointly continuous multiplication. Also we find the necessary and sufficient conditions for these algebras to be locally m -convex.

Substitution formulas for the Kurzweil and Henstock vector integrals

Márcia Federson (2002)

Mathematica Bohemica

Results on integration by parts and integration by substitution for the variational integral of Henstock are well-known. When real-valued functions are considered, such results also hold for the Generalized Riemann Integral defined by Kurzweil since, in this case, the integrals of Kurzweil and Henstock coincide. However, in a Banach-space valued context, the Kurzweil integral properly contains that of Henstock. In the present paper, we consider abstract vector integrals of Kurzweil and prove Substitution...
