On the index theorem for symplectic orbifolds

Boris Fedosov, Bert-Wolfang Schulze, Nikolai Tarkhanov (2004)

Annales de l’institut Fourier

We give an explicit construction of the trace on the algebra of quantum observables on a symplectiv orbifold and propose an index formula.

On the intrinsic geometry of a unit vector field

Yampolsky, Alexander L. Yampolsky, Alexander L. (2002)

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

We study the geometrical properties of a unit vector field on a Riemannian 2-manifold, considering the field as a local imbedding of the manifold into its tangent sphere bundle with the Sasaki metric. For the case of constant curvature K , we give a description of the totally geodesic unit vector fields for K = 0 and K = 1 and prove a non-existence result for K 0 , 1 . We also found a family ξ ω of vector fields on the hyperbolic 2-plane L 2 of curvature - c 2 which generate foliations on T 1 L 2 with leaves of constant intrinsic...

On the invariant variational sequences in mechanics

Šeděnková, Jana (2003)

Proceedings of the 22nd Winter School "Geometry and Physics"

Summary: The r -th order variational sequence is the quotient sequence of the De Rham sequence on the r th jet prolongation of a fibered manifold, factored through its contact subsequence. In this paper, the first order variational sequence on a fibered manifold with one-dimensional base is considered. A new representation of all quotient spaces as some spaces of (global) forms is given. The factorization procedure is based on a modification of the interior Euler operator, used in the theory of (infinite)...

On the iterated absolute differentiation on some functional bundles

Antonella Cabras, Ivan Kolář (1997)

Archivum Mathematicum

We deduce further properties of connections on the functional bundle of all smooth maps between the fibers over the same base point of two fibered manifolds over the same base, which we introduced in [2]. In particular, we define the vertical prolongation of such a connection, discuss the iterated absolute differentiation by means of an auxiliary linear connection on the base manifold and prove the general Ricci identity.
