Dorothee D. Haroske (2008)

Banach Center Publications

Similarity:

We study weighted function spaces of Lebesgue, Besov and Triebel-Lizorkin type where the weight function belongs to some Muckenhoupt p class. The singularities of functions in these spaces are characterised by means of envelope functions.

Disjoint hypercyclic powers of weighted translations on groups

Liang Zhang, Hui-Qiang Lu, Xiao-Mei Fu, Ze-Hua Zhou (2017)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

Let G be a locally compact group and let 1 p < . Recently, Chen et al. characterized hypercyclic, supercyclic and chaotic weighted translations on locally compact groups and their homogeneous spaces. There has been an increasing interest in studying the disjoint hypercyclicity acting on various spaces of holomorphic functions. In this note, we will study disjoint hypercyclic and disjoint supercyclic powers of weighted translation operators on the Lebesgue space L p ( G ) in terms of the weights. Sufficient...

Non-Archimedean integrals and stringy Euler numbers of log-terminal pairs

Victor V. Batyrev (1999)

Journal of the European Mathematical Society

Similarity:

Using non-Archimedian integration over spaces of arcs of algebraic varieties, we define stringy Euler numbers associated with arbitrary Kawamata log-terminal pairs. There is a natural Kawamata log-terminal pair corresponding to an algebraic variety V having a regular action of a finite group G . In this situation we show that the stringy Euler number of this pair coincides with the physicists’ orbifold Euler number defined by the Dixon-Harvey-Vafa-Witten formula. As an application, we...

On the Euler characteristic of the links of a set determined by smooth definable functions

Krzysztof Jan Nowak (2008)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

Similarity:

The purpose of this paper is to carry over to the o-minimal settings some results about the Euler characteristic of algebraic and analytic sets. Consider a polynomially bounded o-minimal structure on the field ℝ of reals. A ( C ) smooth definable function φ: U → ℝ on an open set U in ℝⁿ determines two closed subsets W := u ∈ U: φ(u) ≤ 0, Z := u ∈ U: φ(u) = 0. We shall investigate the links of the sets W and Z at the points u ∈ U, which are well defined up to a definable homeomorphism....

Embeddings of doubling weighted Besov spaces

Dorothee D. Haroske, Philipp Skandera (2014)

Banach Center Publications

Similarity:

We study continuous embeddings of Besov spaces of type B p , q s ( , w ) , where s ∈ ℝ, 0 < p < ∞, 0 < q ≤ ∞, and the weight w is doubling. This approach generalises recent results about embeddings of Muckenhoupt weighted Besov spaces. Our main argument relies on appropriate atomic decomposition techniques of such weighted spaces; here we benefit from earlier results by Bownik. In addition, we discuss some other related weight classes briefly and compare corresponding results.

Anisotropic classes of homogeneous pseudodifferential symbols

Árpád Bényi, Marcin Bownik (2010)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

We define homogeneous classes of x-dependent anisotropic symbols γ , δ m ( A ) in the framework determined by an expansive dilation A, thus extending the existing theory for diagonal dilations. We revisit anisotropic analogues of Hörmander-Mikhlin multipliers introduced by Rivière [Ark. Mat. 9 (1971)] and provide direct proofs of their boundedness on Lebesgue and Hardy spaces by making use of the well-established Calderón-Zygmund theory on spaces of homogeneous type. We then show that x-dependent...

We describe the centered weighted composition operators on L 2 ( Σ ) in terms of their defining symbols. Our characterizations extend Embry-Wardrop-Lambert’s theorem on centered composition operators.

The representation of multi-hypergraphs by set intersections

Stanisław Bylka, Jan Komar (2007)

Discussiones Mathematicae Graph Theory

Similarity:

This paper deals with weighted set systems (V,,q), where V is a set of indices, 2 V and the weight q is a nonnegative integer function on . The basic idea of the paper is to apply weighted set systems to formulate restrictions on intersections. It is of interest to know whether a weighted set system can be represented by set intersections. An intersection representation of (V,,q) is defined to be an indexed family R = ( R v ) v V of subsets of a set S such that | v E R v | = q ( E ) for each E ∈ . A necessary condition...

Some dimensional results for a class of special homogeneous Moran sets

Xiaomei Hu (2016)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

We construct a class of special homogeneous Moran sets, called { m k } -quasi homogeneous Cantor sets, and discuss their Hausdorff dimensions. By adjusting the value of { m k } k 1 , we constructively prove the intermediate value theorem for the homogeneous Moran set. Moreover, we obtain a sufficient condition for the Hausdorff dimension of homogeneous Moran sets to assume the minimum value, which expands earlier works.

Existence of solutions to the (rot,div)-system in L p -weighted spaces

Wojciech M. Zajączkowski (2010)

Applicationes Mathematicae

Similarity:

The existence of solutions to the elliptic problem rot v = w, div v = 0 in a bounded domain Ω ⊂ ℝ³, v · n ̅ | S = 0 , S = ∂Ω in weighted L p -Sobolev spaces is proved. It is assumed that an axis L crosses Ω and the weight is a negative power function of the distance to the axis. The main part of the proof is devoted to examining solutions of the problem in a neighbourhood of L. The existence in Ω follows from the technique of regularization.

The existence of solutions to the elliptic problem rot v = w, div v = 0 in Ω ⊂ ℝ³, v · n ̅ | S = 0 , S = ∂Ω, in weighted Hilbert spaces is proved. It is assumed that Ω contains an axis L and the weight is a negative power of the distance to the axis. The main part of the proof is devoted to examining solutions in a neighbourhood of L. Their existence in Ω follows by regularization.

Weighted inequalities for rough square functions through extrapolation

Javier Duoandikoetxea, Edurne Seijo (2002)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

Weighted inequalities for some square functions are studied. L² results are proved first using the particular structure of the operator and then extrapolation of weights is applied to extend the results to other L p spaces. In particular, previous results for square functions with rough kernel are obtained in a simpler way and extended to a larger class of weights.

Positively homogeneous functions and the Łojasiewicz gradient inequality

Alain Haraux (2005)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

Similarity:

It is quite natural to conjecture that a positively homogeneous function with degree d ≥ 2 on N satisfies the Łojasiewicz gradient inequality with exponent θ = 1/d without any need for an analyticity assumption. We show that this property is true under some additional hypotheses, but not always, even for N = 2.
