Rings consisting entirely of certain elements

Huanyin Chen, Marjan Sheibani, Nahid Ashrafi (2018)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

We completely determine when a ring consists entirely of weak idempotents, units and nilpotents. We prove that such ring is exactly isomorphic to one of the following: a Boolean ring; 3 3 ; 3 B where B is a Boolean ring; local ring with nil Jacobson radical; M 2 ( 2 ) or M 2 ( 3 ) ; or the ring of a Morita context with zero pairings where the underlying rings are 2 or 3 .

On the special context of independent sets

Vladimír Slezák (2001)

Discussiones Mathematicae - General Algebra and Applications

Similarity:

In this paper the context of independent sets J L p is assigned to the complete lattice (P(M),⊆) of all subsets of a non-empty set M. Some properties of this context, especially the irreducibility and the span, are investigated.

Dieudonné-type theorems for lattice group-valued k -triangular set functions

Antonio Boccuto, Xenofon Dimitriou (2019)

Kybernetika

Similarity:

Some versions of Dieudonné-type convergence and uniform boundedness theorems are proved, for k -triangular and regular lattice group-valued set functions. We use sliding hump techniques and direct methods. We extend earlier results, proved in the real case. Furthermore, we pose some open problems.

Kybernetika

Similarity:

In the study, we introduce the definition of a locally internal uninorm on an arbitrary bounded lattice L . We examine some properties of an idempotent and locally internal uninorm on an arbitrary bounded latice L , and investigate relationship between these operators. Moreover, some illustrative examples are added to show the connection between idempotent and locally internal uninorm.

An extension method for t-norms on subintervals to t-norms on bounded lattices

Funda Karaçal, Ümit Ertuğrul, M. Nesibe Kesicioğlu (2019)

Kybernetika

Similarity:

In this paper, a construction method on a bounded lattice obtained from a given t-norm on a subinterval of the bounded lattice is presented. The supremum distributivity of the constructed t-norm by the mentioned method is investigated under some special conditions. It is shown by an example that the extended t-norm on L from the t-norm on a subinterval of L need not be a supremum-distributive t-norm. Moreover, some relationships between the mentioned construction method and the other...

Characterization of irreducible polynomials over a special principal ideal ring

Brahim Boudine (2023)

Mathematica Bohemica

Similarity:

A commutative ring R with unity is called a special principal ideal ring (SPIR) if it is a non integral principal ideal ring containing only one nonzero prime ideal, its length e is the index of nilpotency of its maximal ideal. In this paper, we show a characterization of irreducible polynomials over a SPIR of length 2 . Then, we give a sufficient condition for a polynomial to be irreducible over a SPIR of any length e .

Hyperreflexivity of bilattices

Kamila Kliś-Garlicka (2016)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

The notion of a bilattice was introduced by Shulman. A bilattice is a subspace analogue for a lattice. In this work the definition of hyperreflexivity for bilattices is given and studied. We give some general results concerning this notion. To a given lattice we can construct the bilattice Σ . Similarly, having a bilattice Σ we may consider the lattice Σ . In this paper we study the relationship between hyperreflexivity of subspace lattices and of their associated bilattices. Some examples...

Orthogonality and complementation in the lattice of subspaces of a finite vector space

Ivan Chajda, Helmut Länger (2022)

Mathematica Bohemica

Similarity:

We investigate the lattice 𝐋 ( 𝐕 ) of subspaces of an m -dimensional vector space 𝐕 over a finite field GF ( q ) with a prime power q = p n together with the unary operation of orthogonality. It is well-known that this lattice is modular and that the orthogonality is an antitone involution. The lattice 𝐋 ( 𝐕 ) satisfies the chain condition and we determine the number of covers of its elements, especially the number of its atoms. We characterize when orthogonality is a complementation and hence when 𝐋 ( 𝐕 ) is orthomodular....

The lattice of subvarieties of the biregularization of the variety of Boolean algebras

Jerzy Płonka (2001)

Discussiones Mathematicae - General Algebra and Applications

Similarity:

Let τ: F → N be a type of algebras, where F is a set of fundamental operation symbols and N is the set of all positive integers. An identity φ ≈ ψ is called biregular if it has the same variables in each of it sides and it has the same fundamental operation symbols in each of it sides. For a variety V of type τ we denote by V b the biregularization of V, i.e. the variety of type τ defined by all biregular identities from Id(V). Let B be the variety of Boolean algebras of type τ b : + , · , ´ N , where...

On central atoms of Archimedean atomic lattice effect algebras

Martin Kalina (2010)

Kybernetika

Similarity:

If element z of a lattice effect algebra ( E , , 0 , 1 ) is central, then the interval [ 0 , z ] is a lattice effect algebra with the new top element z and with inherited partial binary operation . It is a known fact that if the set C ( E ) of central elements of E is an atomic Boolean algebra and the supremum of all atoms of C ( E ) in E equals to the top element of E , then E is isomorphic to a direct product of irreducible effect algebras ([16]). In [10] Paseka and Riečanová published as open problem whether C ( E ) is...

Fundamental relation onm-idempotent hyperrings

Morteza Norouzi, Irina Cristea (2017)

Similarity:

The γ*-relation defined on a general hyperring R is the smallest strongly regular relation such that the quotient R/γ* is a ring. In this note we consider a particular class of hyperrings, where we define a new equivalence, called [...] εm∗ ε m * , smaller than γ* and we prove it is the smallest strongly regular relation on such hyperrings such that the quotient R/ [...] εm∗ ε m * is a ring. Moreover, we introduce the concept of m-idempotent hyperrings, show that they are a characterization for...

Sufficient conditions for a T-partial order obtained from triangular norms to be a lattice

Lifeng Li, Jianke Zhang, Chang Zhou (2019)

Kybernetika

Similarity:

For a t-norm T on a bounded lattice ( L , ) , a partial order T was recently defined and studied. In [11], it was pointed out that the binary relation T is a partial order on L , but ( L , T ) may not be a lattice in general. In this paper, several sufficient conditions under which ( L , T ) is a lattice are given, as an answer to an open problem posed by the authors of [11]. Furthermore, some examples of t-norms on L such that ( L , T ) is a lattice are presented.

Skew inverse power series rings over a ring with projective socle

Kamal Paykan (2017)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

A ring R is called a right PS -ring if its socle, Soc ( R R ) , is projective. Nicholson and Watters have shown that if R is a right PS -ring, then so are the polynomial ring R [ x ] and power series ring R [ [ x ] ] . In this paper, it is proved that, under suitable conditions, if R has a (flat) projective socle, then so does the skew inverse power series ring R [ [ x - 1 ; α , δ ] ] and the skew polynomial ring R [ x ; α , δ ] , where R is an associative ring equipped with an automorphism α and an α -derivation δ . Our results extend and unify many existing...

The rings which are Boolean

Ivan Chajda, Filip Švrček (2011)

Discussiones Mathematicae - General Algebra and Applications

Similarity:

We study unitary rings of characteristic 2 satisfying identity x p = x for some natural number p. We characterize several infinite families of these rings which are Boolean, i.e., every element is idempotent. For example, it is in the case if p = 2 n - 2 or p = 2 n - 5 or p = 2 n + 1 for a suitable natural number n. Some other (more general) cases are solved for p expressed in the form 2 q + 2 m + 1 or 2 q + 2 m where q is a natural number and m 1 , 2 , . . . , 2 q - 1 .
