Let $\Omega \subset {ℂ}^n$ be a bounded, simply connected $ℂ$-convex domain. Let $\alpha \in {\mathbb{Z}}_{+}^n$ and let $f$ be a function on $\Omega$ which is separately $C^{2{\alpha }_j-1}$-smooth with respect to $z_j$ (by which we mean jointly $C^{2{\alpha }_j-1}$-smooth with respect to $\mathrm{Re}{z}_j$, $\mathrm{Im}{z}_j$). If $f$ is $\alpha$-analytic on $\Omega \setminus f^{-1}\left(0\right)$, then $f$ is $\alpha$-analytic on $\Omega$. The result is well-known for the case ${\alpha }_i=1$, $1\le i\le n$, even when $f$ a priori is only known to be continuous.

Denote by spanf₁,f₂,... the collection of all finite linear combinations of the functions f₁,f₂,... over ℝ. The principal result of the paper is the following. We characterise the boundedness of the $H^{\infty }$ calculus of a sectorial operator in terms of dilation theorems. We show e. g. that if $-A$ generates a bounded analytic $C_0$ semigroup $\left(T_t\right)$ on a UMD space, then the $H^{\infty }$ calculus of $A$ is bounded if and only if $\left(T_t\right)$ has a dilation to a bounded group on $L^2([0,1],X)$. This generalises a Hilbert space result of C.LeMerdy. If $X$ is an $L^p$ space we can choose another $L^p$ space in place of $L^2([0,1],X)$.

For $X,Y\in {𝐌}_{n,m}$ it is said that $X$ is gut-majorized by $Y$, and we write $X{\prec }_{\mathrm{gut}}Y$, if there exists an $n$-by-$n$ upper triangular g-row stochastic matrix $R$ such that $X=RY$. Define the relation ${\sim }_{\mathrm{gut}}$ as follows. $X{\sim }_{\mathrm{gut}}Y$ if $X$ is gut-majorized by $Y$ and $Y$ is gut-majorized by $X$. The (strong) linear preservers of ${\prec }_{\mathrm{gut}}$ on ${ℝ}^n$ and strong linear preservers of this relation on ${𝐌}_{n,m}$ have been characterized before. This paper characterizes all (strong) linear preservers and strong linear preservers of ${\sim }_{\mathrm{gut}}$ on ${ℝ}^n$ and ${𝐌}_{n,m}$.

In this paper we prove the following results. First, we show the existence of Wiener-Wintner dynamical system with continuous singular spectrum in the orthocomplement of their respective Kronecker factors. The second result states that if $f\in L^p$, $p$ large enough, is a Wiener-Wintner function then, for all $\gamma \in (1+\frac{1}{2p}-\frac{\beta }{2},1]$, there exists a set $X_f$ of full measure for which the series ${\sum }_{n=1}^{\infty }\frac{f\left(T^{n}x\right)e^{2\pi inϵ}}{n^{\gamma }}$ converges uniformly with respect to $ϵ$.
