Quotient algebraic structures on the set of fuzzy numbers

Dorina Fechete, Ioan Fechete (2015)

Kybernetika

A. M. Bica has constructed in [6] two isomorphic Abelian groups, defined on quotient sets of the set of those unimodal fuzzy numbers which have strictly monotone and continuous sides. In this paper, we extend the results of above mentioned paper, to a larger class of fuzzy numbers, by adding the flat fuzzy numbers. Furthermore, we add the topological structure and we characterize the constructed quotient groups, by using the set of the continuous functions with bounded variation, defined on [ 0 , 1 ] .

Quotients of indecomposable Banach spaces of continuous functions

Rogério Augusto dos Santos Fajardo (2012)

Studia Mathematica

Assuming ⋄, we construct a connected compact topological space K such that for every closed L ⊂ K the Banach space C(L) has few operators, in the sense that every operator on C(L) is multiplication by a continuous function plus a weakly compact operator. In particular, C(K) is indecomposable and has continuum many non-isomorphic indecomposable quotients, and K does not contain a homeomorphic copy of βℕ. Moreover, assuming CH we construct a connected compact K where C(K) has few...

Radon-Nikodym derivatives and conditioning in fuzzy measure theory.

Domenico Candeloro, Sabrina Pucci (1987)

Stochastica

In the last twenty years many papers have appeared dealing with fuzzy theory. In particular, fuzzy integration theory had its origin in the well-known Thesis of Sugeno [7]. More recently, some authors faced this topic by means of some binary operations (see for instance [3], [8] and references): a fuzzy measure must be additive with respect to one of them, an the integral is to define in a way, which is very similar to the construction of the Lebesgue integral. On the contrary, we are interested...

Rainbow Ramsey theorems for colorings establishing negative partition relations

András Hajnal (2008)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Given a function f, a subset of its domain is a rainbow subset for f if f is one-to-one on it. We start with an old Erdős problem: Assume f is a coloring of the pairs of ω₁ with three colors such that every subset A of ω₁ of size ω₁ contains a pair of each color. Does there exist a rainbow triangle? We investigate rainbow problems and results of this style for colorings of pairs establishing negative "square bracket" relations.

Ramsey, Lebesgue, and Marczewski sets and the Baire property

Patrick Reardon (1996)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

We investigate the completely Ramsey, Lebesgue, and Marczewski σ-algebras and their relations to the Baire property in the Ellentuck and density topologies. Two theorems concerning the Marczewski σ-algebra (s) are presented.  THEOREM. In the density topology D, (s) coincides with the σ-algebra of Lebesgue measurable sets.  THEOREM. In the Ellentuck topology on [ ω ] ω , ( s ) 0 is a proper subset of the hereditary ideal associated with (s).  We construct an example in the Ellentuck topology of a set which is...

Ramseyan ultrafilters

Lorenz Halbeisen (2001)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

We investigate families of partitions of ω which are related to special coideals, so-called happy families, and give a dual form of Ramsey ultrafilters in terms of partitions. The combinatorial properties of these partition-ultrafilters, which we call Ramseyan ultrafilters, are similar to those of Ramsey ultrafilters. For example it will be shown that dual Mathias forcing restricted to a Ramseyan ultrafilter has the same features as Mathias forcing restricted to a Ramsey ultrafilter. Further we...

Ranks for baire multifunctions

Pandelis Dodos (2003)

Colloquium Mathematicae

Various ordinal ranks for Baire-1 real-valued functions, which have been used in the literature, are adapted to provide ranks for Baire-1 multifunctions. A new rank is also introduced which, roughly speaking, gives an estimate of how far a Baire-1 multifunction is from being upper semicontinuous.
