Patterns with several multiple eigenvalues

J. Dorsey, C.R. Johnson, Z. Wei (2014)

Special Matrices

Identified are certain special periodic diagonal matrices that have a predictable number of paired eigenvalues. Since certain symmetric Toeplitz matrices are special cases, those that have several multiple 5 eigenvalues are also investigated further. This work generalizes earlier work on response matrices from circularly symmetric models.

Polynomial sequences generated by infinite Hessenberg matrices

Luis Verde-Star (2017)

Special Matrices

We show that an infinite lower Hessenberg matrix generates polynomial sequences that correspond to the rows of infinite lower triangular invertible matrices. Orthogonal polynomial sequences are obtained when the Hessenberg matrix is tridiagonal. We study properties of the polynomial sequences and their corresponding matrices which are related to recurrence relations, companion matrices, matrix similarity, construction algorithms, and generating functions. When the Hessenberg matrix is also Toeplitz...

The reciprocal super Catalan matrix

Helmut Prodinger (2015)

Special Matrices

The reciprocal super Catalan matrix has entries [...] . Explicit formulæ for its LU-decomposition, the LU-decomposition of its inverse, and some related matrices are obtained. For all results, q-analogues are also presented.

Unitary automorphisms of the space of Toeplitz-plus-Hankel matrices

A.K. Abdikalykov, V.N. Chugunov, Kh.D. Ikramov (2015)

Special Matrices

Our motivation was a paper of 1991 indicating three special unitary matrices that map Hermitian Toeplitz matrices by similarity into real Toeplitz-plus-Hankel matrices. Generalizing this result, we give a complete description of unitary similarity automorphisms of the space of Toeplitz-plus-Hankel matrices.
