Homotopy uniqueness of BG2.
The class of loop spaces of which the mod cohomology is Noetherian is much larger than the class of -compact groups (for which the mod cohomology is required to be finite). It contains Eilenberg–Mac Lane spaces such as and 3-connected covers of compact Lie groups. We study the cohomology of the classifying space of such an object and prove it is as small as expected, that is, comparable to that of . We also show that X differs basically from the classifying space of a -compact group...
In this article we study non-abelian extensions of a Lie group modeled on a locally convex space by a Lie group . The equivalence classes of such extension are grouped into those corresponding to a class of so-called smooth outer actions of on . If is given, we show that the corresponding set of extension classes is a principal homogeneous space of the locally smooth cohomology group . To each a locally smooth obstruction class in a suitably defined cohomology group is defined....
Let G be a compact connected Lie group and p: E → ΣA be a principal G-bundle with a characteristic map α: A → G, where A = ΣA₀ for some A₀. Let with F₀ = ∗, F₁ = ΣK₁ and Fₘ ≃ G be a cone-decomposition of G of length m and F’₁ = ΣK’₁ ⊂ F₁ with K’₁ ⊂ K₁ which satisfy up to homotopy for all i. Then cat(E) ≤ m + 1, under suitable conditions, which is used to determine cat(SO(10)). A similar result was obtained by Kono and the first author (2007) to determine cat(Spin(9)), but that result could not...
