Let be a del Pezzo surface of degree , and let be the simple Lie group of type . We construct a locally closed embedding of a universal torsor over into the -orbit of the highest weight vector of the adjoint representation. This embedding is equivariant with respect to the action of the Néron-Severi torus of identified with a maximal torus of extended by the group of scalars. Moreover, the -invariant hyperplane sections of the torsor defined by the roots of are the inverse images...
In this paper we construct and study an action of the affine braid group associated with a semi-simple algebraic group on derived categories of coherent sheaves on various varieties related to the Springer resolution of the nilpotent cone. In particular, we describe explicitly the action of the Artin braid group. This action is a “categorical version” of Kazhdan-Lusztig-Ginzburg’s construction of the affine Hecke algebra, and is used in particular by the first author and I. Mirković in the course...
This paper is one in a series generalizing our results in [12, 14, 15, 20] on the existence of extremal metrics to the general almost-homogeneous manifolds of cohomogeneity one. In this paper, we consider the affine cases with hypersurface ends. In particular, we study the existence of Kähler-Einstein metrics on these manifolds and obtain new Kähler-Einstein manifolds as well as Fano manifolds without Kähler-Einstein metrics. As a consequence of our study, we also give a solution to the problem...
In this paper we give a new algebro-geometric proof to the semi-group theorem due to Abhyankar-Moh for the affine plane curves with one place at infinity and its inverse theorem due to Sathaye-Stenerson. The relations between various invariants of these curves are also explained geometrically. Our new proof gives an algorithm to classify the affine plane curves with one place at infinity with given genus by computer.
It is explained that the following two problems are equivalent: (i) describing all affine rulings of any given weighted projective plane; (ii) describing all weighted-homogeneous locally nilpotent derivations of k[X,Y,Z]. Then the solution of (i) is sketched. (Outline of our joint work with Peter Russell.)
