Group conjugation has non-trivial LD-identities

Aleš Drápal, Tomáš Kepka, Michal Musílek (1994)

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

We show that group conjugation generates a proper subvariety of left distributive idempotent groupoids. This subvariety coincides with the variety generated by all cancellative left distributive groupoids.

Group Extensions with Infinite Conjugacy Classes

Jean-Philippe Préaux (2013)

Confluentes Mathematici

We characterize the group property of being with infinite conjugacy classes (or icc, i.e. infinite and of which all conjugacy classes except { 1 } are infinite) for groups which are extensions of groups. We prove a general result for extensions of groups, then deduce characterizations in semi-direct products, wreath products, finite extensions, among others examples we also deduce a characterization for amalgamated products and HNN extensions. The icc property is correlated to the Theory of von Neumann...

Group rings with FC-nilpotent unit groups.

Vikas Bist (1991)

Publicacions Matemàtiques

Let U(RG) be the unit group of the group ring RG. Groups G such that U(RG) is FC-nilpotent are determined, where R is the ring of integers Z or a field K of characteristic zero.
