Let E be a holomorphic Banach bundle over a compact complex manifold, which can be defined by a cocycle of holomorphic transition functions with values of the form id + K where K is compact. Poincaré's work on the reduction of Abelian integrals contains implicitly an algorithm for the expression of a theta function as a sum of products of theta functions of fewer variables in the presence of reduction.
