Trichotomy and bounded solutions of nonlinear differential equations

Mieczysław Cichoń (1994)

Mathematica Bohemica

The existence of bounded solutions for equations x ' = A ( t ) x + f ( t , x ) in Banach spaces is proved. We assume that the linear part is trichotomic and the perturbation f satisfies some conditions expressed in terms of measures of noncompactness.

Tumour angiogenesis model with variable vessels' effectiveness

Jan Poleszczuk, Iwona Skrzypczak (2011)

Applicationes Mathematicae

We propose a model of vascular tumour growth, which generalises the well recognised model formulated by Hahnfeldt et al. in 1999. Our model is based on the same idea that the carrying capacity for any solid tumour depends on its vessel density but it also incorporates vasculature quality which may be lost during angiogenesis as recognised by Jain in 2005. In the model we assume that the loss of vessel quality affects the diffusion coefficient inside the tumour. We analyse basic mathematical properties...

Turnpike theorems by a value function approach

Alain Rapaport, Pierre Cartigny (2004)

ESAIM: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations

Turnpike theorems deal with the optimality of trajectories reaching a singular solution, in calculus of variations or optimal control problems. For scalar calculus of variations problems in infinite horizon, linear with respect to the derivative, we use the theory of viscosity solutions of Hamilton-Jacobi equations to obtain a unique characterization of the value function. With this approach, we extend for the scalar case the classical result based on Green theorem, when there is uniqueness of the...
