The Bogomolov multiplier of groups of order p 7 and exponent p

Zeinab Araghi Rostami, Mohsen Parvizi, Peyman Niroomand (2024)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

We conduct an in-depth investigation into the structure of the Bogomolov multiplier for groups of order p 7 ( p > 2 ) and exponent p . We present a comprehensive classification of these groups, identifying those with nontrivial Bogomolov multipliers and distinguishing them from groups with trivial multipliers. Our analysis not only clarifies the conditions under which the Bogomolov multiplier is nontrivial but also refines existing computational methods, enhancing the process of...

L p - L q estimates for some convolution operators with singular measures on the Heisenberg group

T. Godoy, P. Rocha (2013)

Colloquium Mathematicae

Similarity:

We consider the Heisenberg group ℍⁿ = ℂⁿ × ℝ. Let ν be the Borel measure on ℍⁿ defined by ν ( E ) = χ E ( w , φ ( w ) ) η ( w ) d w , where φ ( w ) = j = 1 n a j | w j | ² , w = (w₁,...,wₙ) ∈ ℂⁿ, a j , and η(w) = η₀(|w|²) with η C c ( ) . We characterize the set of pairs (p,q) such that the convolution operator with ν is L p ( ) - L q ( ) bounded. We also obtain L p -improving properties of measures supported on the graph of the function φ ( w ) = | w | 2 m .

Operator Connes-amenability of completely bounded multiplier Banach algebras

Bahman Hayati, Abasalt Bodaghi, Massoud Amini (2019)

Archivum Mathematicum

Similarity:

For a completely contractive Banach algebra B , we find conditions under which the completely bounded multiplier algebra c b ( B ) is a dual Banach algebra and the operator amenability of B is equivalent to the operator Connes-amenability of c b ( B ) . We also show that, in this case, these are equivalent to the existence of a normal virtual operator diagonal.

Transferring L p eigenfunction bounds from S 2 n + 1 to hⁿ

Valentina Casarino, Paolo Ciatti (2009)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

By using the notion of contraction of Lie groups, we transfer L p - L ² estimates for joint spectral projectors from the unit complex sphere S 2 n + 1 in n + 1 to the reduced Heisenberg group hⁿ. In particular, we deduce some estimates recently obtained by H. Koch and F. Ricci on hⁿ. As a consequence, we prove, in the spirit of Sogge’s work, a discrete restriction theorem for the sub-Laplacian L on hⁿ.

Completely bounded lacunary sets for compact non-abelian groups

Kathryn Hare, Parasar Mohanty (2015)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

In this paper, we introduce and study the notion of completely bounded Λ p sets ( Λ p c b for short) for compact, non-abelian groups G. We characterize Λ p c b sets in terms of completely bounded L p ( G ) multipliers. We prove that when G is an infinite product of special unitary groups of arbitrarily large dimension, there are sets consisting of representations of unbounded degree that are Λ p sets for all p < ∞, but are not Λ p c b for any p ≥ 4. This is done by showing that the space of completely bounded L p ( G ) ...

An M q ( ) -functional calculus for power-bounded operators on certain UMD spaces

Earl Berkson, T. A. Gillespie (2005)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

For 1 ≤ q < ∞, let q ( ) denote the Banach algebra consisting of the bounded complex-valued functions on the unit circle having uniformly bounded q-variation on the dyadic arcs. We describe a broad class ℐ of UMD spaces such that whenever X ∈ ℐ, the sequence space ℓ²(ℤ,X) admits the classes q ( ) as Fourier multipliers, for an appropriate range of values of q > 1 (the range of q depending on X). This multiplier result expands the vector-valued Marcinkiewicz Multiplier Theorem in the direction...

Integral equalities for functions of unbounded spectral operators in Banach spaces

Benedetto Silvestri

Similarity:

The work is dedicated to investigating a limiting procedure for extending “local” integral operator equalities to “global” ones in the sense explained below, and to applying it to obtaining generalizations of the Newton-Leibniz formula for operator-valued functions for a wide class of unbounded operators. The integral equalities considered have the form g ( R F ) f x ( R F ) d μ ( x ) = h ( R F ) . (1) They involve functions of the kind X x f x ( R F ) B ( F ) , where X is a general locally compact space, F runs over a suitable class of Banach subspaces...

We study forking, Lascar strong types, Keisler measures and definable groups, under an assumption of NIP (not the independence property), continuing aspects of the paper [16]. Among key results are (i) if p = tp ( b / A ) does not fork over A then the Lascar strong type of b over A coincides with the compact strong type of b over A and any global nonforking extension of p is Borel definable over bdd ( A ) , (ii) analogous statements for Keisler measures and definable groups, including the fact that G 000 = G 00 for G ...

Operator Figà-Talamanca-Herz algebras

Volker Runde (2003)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

Let G be a locally compact group. We use the canonical operator space structure on the spaces L p ( G ) for p ∈ [1,∞] introduced by G. Pisier to define operator space analogues O A p ( G ) of the classical Figà-Talamanca-Herz algebras A p ( G ) . If p ∈ (1,∞) is arbitrary, then A p ( G ) O A p ( G ) and the inclusion is a contraction; if p = 2, then OA₂(G) ≅ A(G) as Banach spaces, but not necessarily as operator spaces. We show that O A p ( G ) is a completely contractive Banach algebra for each p ∈ (1,∞), and that O A q ( G ) O A p ( G ) completely contractively...

A remark on the asymmetry of convolution operators

Saverio Giulini (1989)

Similarity:

A convolution operator, bounded on L q ( n ) , is bounded on L p ( n ) , with the same operator norm, if p and q are conjugate exponents. It is well known that this fact is false if we replace n with a general non-commutative locally compact group G . In this paper we give a simple construction of a convolution operator on a suitable compact group G , wich is bounded on L q ( G ) for every q [ 2 , ) and is unbounded on L p ( G ) if p [ 1 , 2 ) .

Spectral radius of operators associated with dynamical systems in the spaces C(X)

Similarity:

We consider operators acting in the space C(X) (X is a compact topological space) of the form A u ( x ) = ( k = 1 N e φ k T α k ) u ( x ) = k = 1 N e φ k ( x ) u ( α k ( x ) ) , u ∈ C(X), where φ k C ( X ) and α k : X X are given continuous mappings (1 ≤ k ≤ N). A new formula on the logarithm of the spectral radius r(A) is obtained. The logarithm of r(A) is defined as a nonlinear functional λ depending on the vector of functions φ = ( φ k ) k = 1 N . We prove that l n ( r ( A ) ) = λ ( φ ) = m a x ν M e s k = 1 N X φ k d ν k - λ * ( ν ) , where Mes is the set of all probability vectors of measures ν = ( ν k ) k = 1 N on X × 1,..., N and λ* is some convex lower-semicontinuous functional on...

Truncation and Duality Results for Hopf Image Algebras

Associated to an Hadamard matrix H M N ( ) is the spectral measure μ ∈ [0,N] of the corresponding Hopf image algebra, A = C(G) with G S N . We study a certain family of discrete measures μ r [ 0 , N ] , coming from the idempotent state theory of G, which converge in Cesàro limit to μ. Our main result is a duality formula of type 0 N ( x / N ) p d μ r ( x ) = 0 N ( x / N ) r d ν p ( x ) , where μ r , ν r are the truncations of the spectral measures μ,ν associated to H , H t . We also prove, using these truncations μ r , ν r , that for any deformed Fourier matrix H = F M Q F N we have μ = ν.

Relations between spectral synthesis in the Fourier algebra A(G) of a compact group G and the concept of operator synthesis due to Arveson have been studied in the literature. To any such X we associate a V ( G ) -submodule X̂ of ℬ(L²(G)) (where V ( G ) is the weak-* Haagerup tensor product L ( G ) w * h L ( G ) ), define the concept of X̂-operator synthesis and prove that a...
