Some weighted norm inequalities for a one-sided version of g * λ

L. de Rosa, C. Segovia (2006)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

We study the boundedness of the one-sided operator g λ , φ between the weighted spaces L p ( M ¯ w ) and L p ( w ) for every weight w. If λ = 2/p whenever 1 < p < 2, and in the case p = 1 for λ > 2, we prove the weak type of g λ , φ . For every λ > 1 and p = 2, or λ > 2/p and 1 < p < 2, the boundedness of this operator is obtained. For p > 2 and λ > 1, we obtain the boundedness of g λ , φ from L p ( ( M ¯ ) [ p / 2 ] + 1 w ) to L p ( w ) , where ( M ¯ ) k denotes the operator M¯ iterated k times.

Moser's Inequality for a class of integral operators

Finbarr Holland, David Walsh (1995)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

Let 1 < p < ∞, q = p/(p-1) and for f L p ( 0 , ) define F ( x ) = ( 1 / x ) ʃ 0 x f ( t ) d t , x > 0. Moser’s Inequality states that there is a constant C p such that s u p a 1 s u p f B p ʃ 0 e x p [ a x q | F ( x ) | q - x ] d x = C p where B p is the unit ball of L p . Moreover, the value a = 1 is sharp. We observe that F = K 1 f where the integral operator K 1 has a simple kernel K. We consider the question of for what kernels K(t,x), 0 ≤ t, x < ∞, this result can be extended, and proceed to discuss this when K is non-negative and homogeneous of degree -1. A sufficient condition on K is found for...

The type set E μ is defined by E μ = ( 1 / p , 1 / q ) : | | T μ | | p , q < , 1 p , q . In the case α i β k for 1 ≤ i,k ≤ n we characterize the...

New characterizations for weighted composition operator from Zygmund type spaces to Bloch type spaces

Xin-Cui Guo, Ze-Hua Zhou (2015)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

Let u be a holomorphic function and ϕ a holomorphic self-map of the open unit disk 𝔻 in the complex plane. We provide new characterizations for the boundedness of the weighted composition operators u C ϕ from Zygmund type spaces to Bloch type spaces in 𝔻 in terms of u , ϕ , their derivatives, and ϕ n , the n -th power of ϕ . Moreover, we obtain some similar estimates for the essential norms of the operators u C ϕ , from which sufficient and necessary conditions of compactness of u C ϕ follows immediately. ...

Upper bounds for singular perturbation problems involving gradient fields

We prove an upper bound for the Aviles–Giga problem, which involves the minimization of the energy E ε ( v ) = ε Ω | 2 v | 2 d x + ε 1 Ω ( 1 | v | 2 ) 2 d x over v H 2 ( Ω ) , where ε > 0 is a small parameter. Given v W 1 , ( Ω ) such that v B V and | v | = 1 a.e., we construct a family { v ε } satisfying: v ε v in W 1 , p ( Ω ) and E ε ( v ε ) 1 3 J v | + v v | 3 d N 1 as ε goes to 0.

An interpolatory estimate for the UMD-valued directional Haar projection

Richard Lechner

Similarity:

We prove an interpolatory estimate linking the directional Haar projection P ( ε ) to the Riesz transform in the context of Bochner-Lebesgue spaces L p ( ; X ) , 1 < p < ∞, provided X is a UMD-space. If ε i = 1 , the result is the inequality | | P ( ε ) u | | L p ( ; X ) C | | u | | L p ( ; X ) 1 / | | R i u | | L p ( ; X ) 1 - 1 / , (1) where the constant C depends only on n, p, the UMD-constant of X and the Rademacher type of L p ( ; X ) . In order to obtain the interpolatory result (1) we analyze stripe operators S λ , λ ≥ 0, which are used as basic building blocks to dominate the directional Haar projection....

H calculus and dilatations

Andreas M. Fröhlich, Lutz Weis (2006)

Bulletin de la Société Mathématique de France

Similarity:

We characterise the boundedness of the H calculus of a sectorial operator in terms of dilation theorems. We show e. g. that if - A generates a bounded analytic C 0 semigroup ( T t ) on a UMD space, then the H calculus of A is bounded if and only if ( T t ) has a dilation to a bounded group on L 2 ( [ 0 , 1 ] , X ) . This generalises a Hilbert space result of C.LeMerdy. If X is an L p space we can choose another L p space in place of L 2 ( [ 0 , 1 ] , X ) .

The σ -property in C ( X )

Anthony W. Hager (2016)

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

Similarity:

The σ -property of a Riesz space (real vector lattice) B is: For each sequence { b n } of positive elements of B , there is a sequence { λ n } of positive reals, and b B , with λ n b n b for each n . This condition is involved in studies in Riesz spaces of abstract Egoroff-type theorems, and of the countable lifting property. Here, we examine when “ σ ” obtains for a Riesz space of continuous real-valued functions C ( X ) . A basic result is: For discrete X , C ( X ) has σ iff the cardinal | X | < 𝔟 , Rothberger’s bounding number. Consequences...

A pure smoothness condition for Radó’s theorem for α -analytic functions

Abtin Daghighi, Frank Wikström (2016)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

Let Ω n be a bounded, simply connected -convex domain. Let α + n and let f be a function on Ω which is separately C 2 α j - 1 -smooth with respect to z j (by which we mean jointly C 2 α j - 1 -smooth with respect to Re z j , Im z j ). If f is α -analytic on Ω f - 1 ( 0 ) , then f is α -analytic on Ω . The result is well-known for the case α i = 1 , 1 i n , even when f a priori is only known to be continuous.

Let Ω be a bounded domain of class C 2 in N and let K be a compact subset of Ω . Assume that q ( N + 1 ) / ( N 1 ) and denote by U K the maximal solution of Δ u + u q = 0 in Ω which vanishes on Ω K . We obtain sharp upper and lower estimates for U K in terms of the Bessel capacity C 2 / q , q ' and prove that U K is σ -moderate. In addition we describe the precise asymptotic behavior of U K at points σ K , which depends on the “density” of K at σ , measured in terms of the capacity C 2 / q , q ' .

A note on the weighted Khintchine-Groshev Theorem

Let W ( m , n ; ψ ̲ ) denote the set of ψ 1 , ... , ψ n –approximable points in m n . The classical Khintchine–Groshev theorem assumes a monotonicity condition on the approximating functions ψ ̲ . Removing monotonicity from the Khintchine–Groshev theorem is attributed to different authors for different cases of m and n . It can not be removed for m = n = 1 as Duffin–Schaeffer provided the counter example. We deal with the only remaining case m = 2 and thereby remove all unnecessary conditions from the Khintchine–Groshev theorem. ...
