Modified Jacobian Newton iterative method: theory and applications.
We consider the nonlinear differential inclusion x′(t) ∈ Ax(t) + F(x(t)), where A is an m-dissipative operator on a separable Banach space X and F is a multi-function. We establish a viability result under Lipschitz hypothesis on F, that consists in proving the existence of solutions of the differential inclusion above, starting from a given set, which remain arbitrarily close to that set, if a tangency condition holds. To this end, we establish a kind of set-valued Gronwall’s lemma and a compactness...
The paper is devoted to the analysis of an abstract evolution inclusion with a non-invertible operator, motivated by problems arising in nonlocal phase separation modeling. Existence, uniqueness, and long-time behaviour of the solution to the related Cauchy problem are discussed in detail.
In this article, we show the convergence of a class of numerical schemes for certain maximal monotone evolution systems; a by-product of this results is the existence of solutions in cases which had not been previously treated. The order of these schemes is in general and when the only non Lipschitz continuous term is the subdifferential of the indicatrix of a closed convex set. In the case of Prandtl’s rheological model, our estimates in maximum norm do not depend on spatial dimension.
In this article, we show the convergence of a class of numerical schemes for certain maximal monotone evolution systems; a by-product of this results is the existence of solutions in cases which had not been previously treated. The order of these schemes is 1/2 in general and 1 when the only non Lipschitz continuous term is the subdifferential of the indicatrix of a closed convex set. In the case of Prandtl's rheological model, our estimates in maximum norm do not depend on spatial dimension. ...
We characterize the dynamics of the finite time blow-up solutions with minimal mass for the focusing mass-critical Hartree equation with H¹(ℝ⁴) data and L²(ℝ⁴) data, where we make use of the refined Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality of convolution type and the profile decomposition. Moreover, we analyze the mass concentration phenomenon of such blow-up solutions.
A nonlocal model of phase separation in multicomponent systems is presented. It is derived from conservation principles and minimization of free energy containing a nonlocal part due to particle interaction. In contrast to the classical Cahn-Hilliard theory with higher order terms this leads to an evolution system of second order parabolic equations for the particle densities, coupled by nonlinear and nonlocal drift terms, and state equations which involve both chemical and interaction potential...
We present models of the dynamics of phytoplankton aggregates. We start with an individual-based model in which aggregates can grow, divide, joint and move randomly. Passing to infinity with the number of individuals, we obtain a model which describes the space-size distribution of aggregates. The density distribution function satisfies a non-linear transport equation, which contains terms responsible for the growth of phytoplankton aggregates, their fragmentation, coagulation, and diffusion.
We show that the Porous Medium Equation and the Fast Diffusion Equation, , with , can be modeled as a gradient system in the Hilbert space , and we obtain existence and uniqueness of solutions in this framework. We deal with bounded and certain unbounded open sets and do not require any boundary regularity. Moreover, the approach is used to discuss the asymptotic behaviour and order preservation of solutions.
A translation along trajectories approach together with averaging procedure and topological degree are used to derive effective criteria for existence of periodic solutions for nonautonomous evolution equations with periodic perturbations. It is shown that a topologically nontrivial zero of the averaged right hand side is a source of periodic solutions for the equations with increased frequencies. Our setting involves equations on closed convex cones, therefore it enables us to study positive solutions...
In the present paper, we prove nonexistence results for the following nonlinear evolution equation, see works of T. Cazenave and A. Haraux (1990) and S. Zheng (2004), posed in where is -fractional power of Our method of proof is based on suitable choices of the test functions in the weak formulation of the sought solutions. Then, we extend this result to the case of a system of the same type.
