Extremes of spheroid shape factor based on two dimensional profiles

Daniel Hlubinka (2006)

Kybernetika

The extremal shape factor of spheroidal particles is studied. Three dimensional particles are considered to be observed via their two dimensional profiles and the problem is to predict the extremal shape factor in a given size class. We proof the stability of the domain of attraction of the spheroid’s and its profile shape factor under a tail equivalence condition. We show namely that the Farlie–Gumbel–Morgenstern bivariate distributions gives the tail uniformity. We provide a way how to find normalising...

Global correlation and uncertainty accounting

Roger M. Cooke, Sassan Saatchi, Stephen Hagen (2016)

Dependence Modeling

For a high dimensional field of random variables, global correlation is defined as the ratio of average covariance and average variance, and its elementary properties are studied. Global correlation is used to harmonize uncertainty assessments at global and local scales. It can be estimated by the correlation of random aggregations of fixed size of disjoint sets of random variables. Illustrative applications are given using crop loss per county per year and forest carbon.

Hierarchical text categorization using fuzzy relational thesaurus

Domonkos Tikk, Jae Dong Yang, Sun Lee Bang (2003)

Kybernetika

Text categorization is the classification to assign a text document to an appropriate category in a predefined set of categories. We present a new approach for the text categorization by means of Fuzzy Relational Thesaurus (FRT). FRT is a multilevel category system that stores and maintains adaptive local dictionary for each category. The goal of our approach is twofold; to develop a reliable text categorization method on a certain subject domain, and to expand the initial FRT by automatically added...

Kriging and masurement errors

István Fazekas, Alexander G. Kukush (2005)

Discussiones Mathematicae Probability and Statistics

A linear geostatistical model is considered. Properties of a universal kriging are studied when the locations of observations aremeasured with errors. Alternative prediction procedures are introduced and their least squares errors are analyzed.
