A two dimensional stochastic differential equation is suggested as a stochastic model for the Kermack–McKendrick epidemics. Its strong (weak) existence and uniqueness and absorption properties are investigated. The examples presented in Section 5 are meant to illustrate possible different asymptotics of a solution to the equation.

The biological theory of adaptive dynamics proposes a description of the long-time evolution of an asexual population, based on the assumptions of large population, rare mutations and small mutation steps. Under these assumptions, the evolution of a quantitative dominant trait in an isolated population is described by a deterministic differential equation called 'canonical equation of adaptive dynamics'. In this work, in order to include the effect of genetic drift in this model, we consider instead...

In this paper, using Mawhin's continuation theorem of the coincidence degree theory, we obtain some sufficient conditions for the existence of positive almost periodic solutions for a class of delay discrete models with Allee-effect.

A class of nonautonomous discrete logistic single-species systems with time-varying pure-delays and feedback control is studied. By introducing a new research method, almost sufficient and necessary conditions for the permanence and extinction of species are obtained. Particularly, when the system degenerates into a periodic system, sufficient and necessary conditions on the permanence and extinction of species are obtained. Moreover, a very important fact is found in our results, that is, the feedback...

This paper deals with nonlinear diffusion problems which include the Stefan problem, the porous medium equation and cross-diffusion systems. We provide a linear scheme for these nonlinear diffusion problems. The proposed numerical scheme has many advantages. Namely, the implementation is very easy and the ensuing linear algebraic systems are symmetric, which show low computational cost. Moreover, this scheme has the accuracy comparable to that of the wellstudied nonlinear schemes and make it possible...

A possible control strategy against the spread of an infectious disease is the treatment with antimicrobials that are given prophylactically to those that had contact with an infective person. The treatment continues until recovery or until it becomes obvious that there was no infection in the first place. The model considers susceptible, treated uninfected exposed, treated infected, (untreated) infectious, and recovered individuals. The overly optimistic assumptions are made that treated uninfected...
