On blowing up versal discriminants

Piotr Jaworski (1998)

Banach Center Publications

It is well-known that the versal deformations of nonsimple singularities depend on moduli. The first step in deeper understanding of this phenomenon is to determine the versal discriminant, which roughly speaking is an obstacle for analytic triviality of an unfolding or deformation along the moduli. The goal of this paper is to describe the versal discriminant of Z k , 0 and Q k , 0 singularities basing on the fact that the deformations of these singularities may be obtained as blowing ups of certain deformations...

On Brody and entire curves

Jörg Winkelmann (2007)

Bulletin de la Société Mathématique de France

We discuss an example of an open subset of a torus which admits a dense entire curve, but no dense Brody curve.

On Buchsbaum bundles on quadric hypersurfaces

Edoardo Ballico, Francesco Malaspina, Paolo Valabrega, Mario Valenzano (2012)

Open Mathematics

Let E be an indecomposable rank two vector bundle on the projective space ℙn, n ≥ 3, over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. It is well known that E is arithmetically Buchsbaum if and only if n = 3 and E is a null-correlation bundle. In the present paper we establish an analogous result for rank two indecomposable arithmetically Buchsbaum vector bundles on the smooth quadric hypersurface Q n ⊂ ℙn+1, n ≥ 3. We give in fact a full classification and prove that n must be at most...
