Construction of a natural norm for the convection-diffusion-reaction operator

Giancarlo Sangalli (2004)

Bollettino dell'Unione Matematica Italiana

In this work, we construct, by means of the function space interpolation theory, a natural norm for a generic linear coercive and non-symmetric operator. We look for a norm which is the counterpart of the energy norm for symmetric operators. The natural norm allows for continuity and inf-sup conditions independent of the operator. Particularly we consider the convection-diffusion-reaction operator, for which we obtain continuity and inf-sup conditions that are uniform with respect to the operator...

Construction of compact constant mean curvature hypersurfaces with topology

Mohamed Jleli (2012)

Annales de l’institut Fourier

In this paper, we explain how the end-to-end construction together with the moduli space theory can be used to produce compact constant mean curvature hypersurfaces with nontrivial topology. For the sake of simplicity, the hypersurfaces we construct have a large group of symmetry but the method can certainly be used to provide many more examples with less symmetries.

Construction of convergent adaptive weighted essentially non-oscillatory schemes for Hamilton-Jacobi equations on triangular meshes

Kwangil Kim, Unhyok Hong, Kwanhung Ri, Juhyon Yu (2021)

Applications of Mathematics

We propose a method of constructing convergent high order schemes for Hamilton-Jacobi equations on triangular meshes, which is based on combining a high order scheme with a first order monotone scheme. According to this methodology, we construct adaptive schemes of weighted essentially non-oscillatory type on triangular meshes for nonconvex Hamilton-Jacobi equations in which the first order monotone approximations are occasionally applied near singular points of the solution (discontinuities of...
