Invariant approximation for fuzzy nonexpansive mappings

Ismat Beg, Mujahid Abbas (2011)

Mathematica Bohemica

We establish results on invariant approximation for fuzzy nonexpansive mappings defined on fuzzy metric spaces. As an application a result on the best approximation as a fixed point in a fuzzy normed space is obtained. We also define the strictly convex fuzzy normed space and obtain a necessary condition for the set of all t -best approximations to contain a fixed point of arbitrary mappings. A result regarding the existence of an invariant point for a pair of commuting mappings on a fuzzy metric...

Invariant means on a class of von Neumann algebras related to ultraspherical hypergroups

Nageswaran Shravan Kumar (2014)

Studia Mathematica

Let K be an ultraspherical hypergroup associated to a locally compact group G and a spherical projector π and let VN(K) denote the dual of the Fourier algebra A(K) corresponding to K. In this note, invariant means on VN(K) are defined and studied. We show that the set of invariant means on VN(K) is nonempty. Also, we prove that, if H is an open subhypergroup of K, then the number of invariant means on VN(H) is equal to the number of invariant means on VN(K). We also show that a unique topological...

Invariant properties of the generalized canonical mappings

Stanisław Janeczko (1999)

Banach Center Publications

One of the fundamental objectives of the theory of symplectic singularities is to study the symplectic invariants appearing in various geometrical contexts. In the paper we generalize the symplectic cohomological invariant to the class of generalized canonical mappings. We analyze the global structure of Lagrangian Grassmannian in the product symplectic space and describe the local properties of generic symplectic relations.

Invariant subspaces for operators in a general II1-factor

Uffe Haagerup, Hanne Schultz (2009)

Publications Mathématiques de l'IHÉS

Let ℳ be a von Neumann factor of type II1 with a normalized trace τ. In 1983 L. G. Brown showed that to every operator T∈ℳ one can in a natural way associate a spectral distribution measure μ T (now called the Brown measure of T), which is a probability measure in ℂ with support in the spectrum σ(T) of T. In this paper it is shown that for every T∈ℳ and every Borel set B in ℂ, there is a unique closed T-invariant subspace 𝒦 = 𝒦 T ( B ) affiliated with ℳ, such that the Brown measure of T | 𝒦 is concentrated on B...
