A general class of entropy statistics

María Dolores Esteban (1997)

Applications of Mathematics

To study the asymptotic properties of entropy estimates, we use a unified expression, called the H h , v ϕ 1 , ϕ 2 -entropy. Asymptotic distributions for these statistics are given in several cases when maximum likelihood estimators are considered, so they can be used to construct confidence intervals and to test statistical hypotheses based on one or more samples. These results can also be applied to multinomial populations.

A generalization of Wishart density for the case when the inverse of the covariance matrix is a band matrix

Kryštof Eben (1994)

Mathematica Bohemica

In a multivariate normal distribution, let the inverse of the covariance matrix be a band matrix. The distribution of the sufficient statistic for the covariance matrix is derived for this case. It is a generalization of the Wishart distribution. The distribution may be used for unbiased density estimation and construction of classification rules.

A generalized bivariate lifetime distribution based on parallel-series structures

Vahideh Mohtashami-Borzadaran, Mohammad Amini, Jafar Ahmadi (2019)

Kybernetika

In this paper, a generalized bivariate lifetime distribution is introduced. This new model is constructed based on a dependent model consisting of two parallel-series systems which have a random number of parallel subsystems with fixed components connected in series. The probability that one system fails before the other one is measured by using competing risks. Using the extreme-value copulas, the dependence structure of the proposed model is studied. Kendall's tau, Spearman's rho and tail dependences...
