We prove that for normal operators $N_1,N_2\in ℒ\left(\mathscr{H}\right),$ the generalized commutator $[N_1,N_2;X]$ approaches zero when $[N_1,N_2;[N_1,N_2;X]]$ tends to zero in the norm of the Schatten-von Neumann class ${𝒞}_p$ with $p>1$ and $X$ varies in a bounded set of such a class.

We present two results on existence of infinitely many positive solutions to the Neumann problem ⎧ $-{\Delta }_{p}u+\lambda \left(x\right){\left|u\right|}^{p-2}u=\mu f(x,u)$ in Ω, ⎨ ⎩ ∂u/∂ν = 0 on ∂Ω, where $\Omega \subset {ℝ}^N$ is a bounded open set with sufficiently smooth boundary ∂Ω, ν is the outer unit normal vector to ∂Ω, p > 1, μ > 0, $\lambda \in L^{\infty }\left(\Omega \right)$ with $essin{f}_{x\in \Omega }\lambda \left(x\right)>0$ and f: Ω × ℝ → ℝ is a Carathéodory function. We show that every operator from ${\ell }_s$ to ${\ell }_p\otimes ̂{\ell }_q$ is compact when 1 ≤ p,q < s and that every operator from ${\ell }_s$ to ${\ell }_p\widehat{\otimes ̂}{\ell }_q$ is compact when 1/p + 1/q > 1 + 1/s.

We show that any ${\Sigma }_s$-product of at most $𝔠$-many $L\Sigma (\le \omega )$-spaces has the $L\Sigma (\le \omega )$-property. We prove that for a normed linear space $X$, if $f_1:X\to ℝ$ is continuous and semiconvex with modulus $\omega$, $f_2:X\to ℝ$ is continuous and semiconcave with modulus $\omega$ and $f_1\le f_2$, then there exists $f\in C^{1,\omega }\left(X\right)$ such that $f_1\le f\le f_2$. Using this result we prove a generalization of Ilmanen lemma (which deals with the case $\omega \left(t\right)=t$) to the case of an arbitrary nontrivial modulus $\omega$. This generalization (where a $C_{loc}^{1,\omega }$ function is inserted) gives a positive answer to a problem formulated by A. Fathi and M. Zavidovique in 2010.
