On the Dunford-Pettis property of tensor product spaces

Ioana Ghenciu (2011)

Colloquium Mathematicae

Similarity:

We give sufficient conditions on Banach spaces E and F so that their projective tensor product E π F and the duals of their projective and injective tensor products do not have the Dunford-Pettis property. We prove that if E* does not have the Schur property, F is infinite-dimensional, and every operator T:E* → F** is completely continuous, then ( E ϵ F ) * does not have the DPP. We also prove that if E* does not have the Schur property, F is infinite-dimensional, and every operator T: F** → E* is...

Biduals of tensor products in operator spaces

Verónica Dimant, Maite Fernández-Unzueta (2015)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

We study whether the operator space V * * α W * * can be identified with a subspace of the bidual space ( V α W ) * * , for a given operator space tensor norm. We prove that this can be done if α is finitely generated and V and W are locally reflexive. If in addition the dual spaces are locally reflexive and the bidual spaces have the completely bounded approximation property, then the identification is through a complete isomorphism. When α is the projective, Haagerup or injective norm, the hypotheses can be...

If A R , σ V and A P , ν W are two Brzeziński crossed products and Q: W⊗ V → V⊗ W is a linear map satisfying certain properties, we construct a Brzeziński crossed product A S , θ ( V W ) . This construction contains as a particular case the iterated twisted tensor product of algebras.

The classical subspaces of the projective tensor products of p and C(α) spaces, α < ω₁

We completely determine the q and C(K) spaces which are isomorphic to a subspace of p ̂ π C ( α ) , the projective tensor product of the classical p space, 1 ≤ p < ∞, and the space C(α) of all scalar valued continuous functions defined on the interval of ordinal numbers [1,α], α < ω₁. In order to do this, we extend a result of A. Tong concerning diagonal block matrices representing operators from p to ℓ₁, 1 ≤ p < ∞. The first main theorem is an extension of a result of E. The tensor algebra of power series spaces

Dietmar Vogt (2009)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

The linear isomorphism type of the tensor algebra T(E) of Fréchet spaces and, in particular, of power series spaces is studied. While for nuclear power series spaces of infinite type it is always s, the situation for finite type power series spaces is more complicated. The linear isomorphism T(s) ≅ s can be used to define a multiplication on s which makes it a Fréchet m-algebra s . This may be used to give an algebra analogue to the structure theory of s, that is, characterize Fréchet...

Tensor products of higher almost split sequences in subcategories

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

We introduce the algebras satisfying the ( , n ) condition. If Λ , Γ are algebras satisfying the ( , n ) , ( , m ) condition, respectively, we give a construction of ( m + n ) -almost split sequences in some subcategories ( ) ( i 0 , j 0 ) of mod ( Λ Γ ) by tensor products and mapping cones. Moreover, we prove that the tensor product algebra Λ Γ satisfies the ( ( ) ( i 0 , j 0 ) , n + m ) condition for some integers i 0 , j 0 ; this construction unifies and extends the work of A. Pasquali (2017), (2019).

Let E be a Banach space with 1-unconditional basis. Denote by Δ ( ̂ n , π E ) (resp. Δ ( ̂ n , s , π E ) ) the main diagonal space of the n-fold full (resp. symmetric) projective Banach space tensor product, and denote by Δ ( ̂ n , | π | E ) (resp. Δ ( ̂ n , s , | π | E ) ) the main diagonal space of the n-fold full (resp. symmetric) projective Banach lattice tensor product. We show that these four main diagonal spaces are pairwise isometrically isomorphic, and in addition, that they are isometrically lattice isomorphic to E [ n ] , the completion of the n-concavification...

Yetter-Drinfeld-Long bimodules are modules

Let H be a finite-dimensional bialgebra. In this paper, we prove that the category ℒℛ ( H ) of Yetter-Drinfeld-Long bimodules, introduced by F. Panaite, F. Van Oystaeyen (2008), is isomorphic to the Yetter-Drinfeld category H H * H H * 𝒴𝒟 over the tensor product bialgebra H H * as monoidal categories. Moreover if H is a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra with bijective antipode, the isomorphism is braided. Finally, as an application of this category isomorphism, we give two results.

On isomorphic classification of tensor products E ( a ) ̂ E ' ( b )

Goncharov A., Zahariuta V., Terzioğlu Tosun

Similarity:

Abstract New linear topological invariants are introduced and utilized to give an isomorphic classification of tensor products of the type E ( a ) ̂ E ' ( b ) , where E ( a ) is a power series space of infinite type. These invariants are modifications of those suggested earlier by Zahariuta. In particular, some new results are obtained for spaces of infinitely differentiable functions with values in a locally convex space X. These spaces coincide, up to isomorphism, with spaces L(s’,X) of all continuous linear...

The ideal of p-compact operators: a tensor product approach

Daniel Galicer, Silvia Lassalle, Pablo Turco (2012)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

We study the space of p-compact operators, p , using the theory of tensor norms and operator ideals. We prove that p is associated to / d p , the left injective associate of the Chevet-Saphar tensor norm d p (which is equal to g p ' ' ). This allows us to relate the theory of p-summing operators to that of p-compact operators. Using the results known for the former class and appropriate hypotheses on E and F we prove that p ( E ; F ) is equal to q ( E ; F ) for a wide range of values of p and q, and show that our results...

Schur-Finite Motives and Trace Identities

We provide a sufficient condition that ensures the nilpotency of endomorphisms universally of trace zero of Schur-finite objects in a category of homological type, i.e., a -linear -category with a tensor functor to super vector spaces. We present some applications in the category of motives, where our result generalizes previous results about finite-dimensional objects, in particular by Kimura. We also present some facts which suggest that this might be the best generalization possible...

Linear natural operators lifting p -vectors to tensors of type ( q , 0 ) on Weil bundles

We give a classification of all linear natural operators transforming p -vectors (i.e., skew-symmetric tensor fields of type ( p , 0 ) ) on n -dimensional manifolds M to tensor fields of type ( q , 0 ) on T A M , where T A is a Weil bundle, under the condition that p 1 , n p and n q . The main result of the paper states that, roughly speaking, each linear natural operator lifting p -vectors to tensor fields of type ( q , 0 ) on T A is a sum of operators obtained by permuting the indices of the tensor products of linear natural...

General Haar systems and greedy approximation

We show that each general Haar system is permutatively equivalent in L p ( [ 0 , 1 ] ) , 1 < p < ∞, to a subsequence of the classical (i.e. dyadic) Haar system. As a consequence, each general Haar system is a greedy basis in L p ( [ 0 , 1 ] ) , 1 < p < ∞. In addition, we give an example of a general Haar system whose tensor products are greedy bases in each L p ( [ 0 , 1 ] d ) , 1 < p < ∞, d ∈ ℕ. This is in contrast to [11], where it has been shown that the tensor products of the dyadic Haar system are not greedy bases...

Let p be a prime number. This paper introduces the Roquette category p of finite p -groups, which is an additive tensor category containing all finite p -groups among its objects. In p , every finite p -group P admits a canonical direct summand P , called the edge of P . Moreover P splits uniquely as a direct sum of edges of Roquette p -groups, and the tensor structure of p can be described in terms of such edges. The main motivation for considering this category is that the additive functors...
