Let $H$ be a finite abelian group of odd order, $𝒟$ be its generalized dihedral group, i.e., the semidirect product of $C_2$ acting on $H$ by inverting elements, where $C_2$ is the cyclic group of order two. Let $\Omega \left(𝒟\right)$ be the Burnside ring of $𝒟$, $\Delta \left(𝒟\right)$ be the augmentation ideal of $\Omega \left(𝒟\right)$. Denote by ${\Delta }^n\left(𝒟\right)$ and $Q_n\left(𝒟\right)$ the $n$th power of $\Delta \left(𝒟\right)$ and the $n$th consecutive quotient group ${\Delta }^n\left(𝒟\right)/{\Delta }^{n+1}\left(𝒟\right)$, respectively. This paper provides an explicit $\mathbb{Z}$-basis for ${\Delta }^n\left(𝒟\right)$ and determines the isomorphism class of $Q_n\left(𝒟\right)$ for each positive integer $n$.

Assume $r$ is a prime number and let $G$ be a group such that nse$\left(G\right)=$ nse$\left(S_r\right)$, where $S_r$ is the symmetric group of degree $r$. In this paper we prove that $G\cong S_r$, if $r$ divides the order of $G$ and $r^2$ does not divide it. To get the conclusion we make use of some well-known results on the prime graphs of finite simple groups and their components.

We show that any ${\Sigma }_s$-product of at most $𝔠$-many $L\Sigma (\le \omega )$-spaces has the $L\Sigma (\le \omega )$-property. This result generalizes some known results about $L\Sigma (\le \omega )$-spaces. On the other hand, we prove that every ${\Sigma }_s$-product of monotonically monolithic spaces is monotonically monolithic, and in a similar form, we show that every ${\Sigma }_s$-product of Collins-Roscoe spaces has the Collins-Roscoe property. There is $\delta >0$ such that for any $P_1,\cdots ,P_4$, and $Q_1,\cdots ,Q_n\in {ℂ}^2$, if there are $\le n^{(1+\delta )/2}$ many distinct lines between $P_i$ and $Q_j$ for all $i$, $j$, then $P_1,\cdots ,P_4$ are collinear. Let $\Omega$ be a bounded domain of class $C^2$ in $ℝ$N and let $K$ be a compact subset of $\partial \Omega$. Assume that $q\ge (N+1)/\left(N-1\right)$ and denote by $U_K$ the maximal solution of $-\Delta u+u^q=0$ in $\Omega$ which vanishes on $\partial \Omega \setminus K$. We obtain sharp upper and lower estimates for $U_K$ in terms of the Bessel capacity $C_{2/q,q^{\text{'}}}$ and prove that $U_K$ is $\sigma$-moderate. In addition we describe the precise asymptotic behavior of $U_K$ at points $\sigma \in K$, which depends on the “density” of $K$ at $\sigma$, measured in terms of the capacity $C_{2/q,q^{\text{'}}}$.

In this paper, we examine a natural question concerning the divisors of the polynomial $x^n-1$: “How often does $x^n-1$ have a divisor of every degree between $1$ and $n$?” In a previous paper, we considered the situation when $x^n-1$ is factored in $\mathbb{Z}\left[x\right]$. In this paper, we replace $\mathbb{Z}\left[x\right]$ with ${𝔽}_p\left[x\right]$, where $p$ is an arbitrary-but-fixed prime. We also consider those $n$ where this condition holds for all $p$.
