La structure d'un calendrier peut être décrite par une suite de formes quasi-affines. Une telle suite, que j'appellerai base quasi-affine, généralise la notion de base de numération. Le problème de la conversion de dates est ainsi ramené à l'écriture du Jour Julien dans une telle base. Un algorithme de reconnaissance de droites discrètes permet d'obtenir la bonne base quasi-affine. À titre d'exemples sont traités les calendriers julien, grégorien, musulman et judaïque.

Starting with Dürer's magic square which appears in the well-known copper plate engraving Melencolia we consider the class of melancholic magic squares. Each member of this class exhibits the same 86 patterns of Dürer's magic square and is magic again. Článek pojednává o matematických úlohách souvisejících se šachovnicí a šachovými figurami. Ze šachu však budeme potřebovat pouze pravidla pro pohyb figur po šachovnici. Postupně se zaměřujeme na jezdcovy procházky po obdélníkových šachovnicích a dále na tzv. nezávislost a dominanci figur a vztah mezi nimi na čtvercových šachovnicích. Ukážeme, že některé problémy lze řešit elegantněji, pokud je přeformulujeme v řeči teorie grafů.
Some comments on the diversity of Vermeer paintings depicted on postage stamps
We present some comments on the diversity of the paintings by Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675) depicted on postage stamps. We have found 20 of the 36 "recognized" Vermeer paintings depicted on postage stamps issued by 29 "countries"; by country we mean here a stamp-issuing region that issues or has issued its own postage stamps.
