Un exemple d'ensembles absorbants non équivalents

Robert Cauty (1991)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

We give an example in the Hilbert space 2 of two subsets which are absorbing for the class of topologically complete spaces, but for which there exists no homeomorphism of 2 onto itself mapping one of these subsets onto the other.

Uniform Kadec-Klee property and nearly uniform convexity in Köthe-Bochner sequence spaces

Paweł Kolwicz (2003)

Bollettino dell'Unione Matematica Italiana

The uniformly Kadec-Klee property in Köthe-Bochner sequence spaces E X , where E is a Köthe sequence space and X is an arbitrary separable Banach space, is studied. Namely, the question of whether or not this geometric property lifts from X and E to E X is examined. It is settled affirmatively in contrast to the case when E is a Köthe function space. As a corollary we get criteria for E X to be nearly uniformly convex.

Uniqueness of unconditional basis of p ( c ) and p ( ) , 0 < p < 1

F. Albiac, C. Leránoz (2002)

Studia Mathematica

We prove that the quasi-Banach spaces p ( c ) and p ( ) (0 < p < 1) have a unique unconditional basis up to permutation. Bourgain, Casazza, Lindenstrauss and Tzafriri have previously proved that the same is true for the respective Banach envelopes ( c ) and ℓ₁(ℓ₂). They used duality techniques which are not available in the non-locally convex case.

Vector-valued sequence space B M C ( X ) and its properties

Qing-Ying Bu (1996)

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

In this paper, a vector topology is introduced in the vector-valued sequence space BMC ( X ) and convergence of sequences and sequentially compact sets in BMC ( X ) are characterized.

Weak orthogonality and weak property ( β ) in some Banach sequence spaces

Yunan Cui, Henryk Hudzik, Ryszard Płuciennik (1999)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

It is proved that a Köthe sequence space is weakly orthogonal if and only if it is order continuous. Criteria for weak property ( β ) in Orlicz sequence spaces in the case of the Luxemburg norm as well as the Orlicz norm are given.

Weak sequential completeness of sequence spaces.

Charles Swartz (1992)

Collectanea Mathematica

Köthe and Toeplitz introduced the theory of sequence spaces and established many of the basic properties of sequence spaces by using methods of classical analysis. Later many of these same properties of sequence spaces were reestablished by using soft proofs of functional analysis. In this note we would like to point out that an improved version of a classical lemma of Schur due to Hahn can be used to give very short proofs of two of the weak sequential completeness results of Köthe and Toeplitz....

Weighted shift operators on lp spaces.

Lucas Jódar (1986)

Stochastica

The analytic-spectral structure of the commutant of a weighted shift operator defined on a lp space (1 ≤ p < ∞) is studied. The cases unilateral, bilateral and quasinilpotent are treated. We apply the results to study certain questions related to unicellularity, strictly cyclicity and the existence of hyperinvariant subspaces.
