Fat equicontinuous groups of homeomorphisms of linear topological spaces and their application to the problem of isometries in linear metric spaces
This paper is devoted to the functional analytic approach to the problem of construction of Feller semigroups with Wentzell boundary conditions in the characteristic case. Our results may be stated as follows: We can construct Feller semigroups corresponding to a diffusion phenomenon including absorption, reflection, viscosity, diffusion along the boundary and jump at each point of the boundary.
Motivated by potential applications to partial differential equations, we develop a theory of fine scales of decay rates for operator semigroups. The theory contains, unifies, and extends several notable results in the literature on decay of operator semigroups and yields a number of new ones. Its core is a new operator-theoretical method of deriving rates of decay combining ingredients from functional calculus and complex, real and harmonic analysis. It also leads to several results of independent...
In this article we describe properties of unbounded operators related to evolutionary problems. It is a survey article which also contains several new results. For instance we give a characterization of cosine functions in terms of mild well-posedness of the Cauchy problem of order 2, and we show that the property of having a bounded -calculus is stable under rank-1 perturbations whereas the property of being associated with a closed form and the property of generating a cosine function are not....
The formula is proved for precompact sets M of weakly compact operators on a Banach space. Here ϱ(M) is the joint spectral radius (the Rota-Strang radius), is the Hausdorff spectral radius (connected with the Hausdorff measure of noncompactness) and r(M) is the Berger-Wang radius.
Two operator-valued Fourier multiplier theorems for Hölder spaces are proved, one periodic, the other on the line. In contrast to the -situation they hold for arbitrary Banach spaces. As a consequence, maximal regularity in the sense of Hölder can be characterized by simple resolvent estimates of the underlying operator.

Studying fractional derivatives and fractional powers of such operators gives some insights in this problem. Since an L^p – theory for such operators will provide a helpful tool we investigate the L^p –domains of certain model operators.* This work is partially supported...
In this paper we characterize the semigroups of analytic functions in the unit disk which lead to semigroups of operators in the disk algebra. These characterizations involve analytic as well as geometric aspects of the iterates and they are strongly related to the classical theorem of Carathéodory about local connection and boundary behaviour of univalent functions.
Mathematics Subject Classification: Primary 47A60, 47D06.In this paper, we extend the theory of complex powers of operators to a class of operators in Banach spaces whose spectrum lies in C ]−∞, 0[ and whose resolvent satisfies an estimate ||(λ + A)(−1)|| ≤ (λ(−1) + λm) M for all λ > 0 and for some constants M > 0 and m ∈ R. This class of operators strictly contains the class of the non negative operators and the one of operators with polynomially bounded resolvent. We also prove that this theory...
Given an equibounded (₀)-semigroup of linear operators with generator A on a Banach space X, a functional calculus, due to L. Schwartz, is briefly sketched to explain fractional powers of A. Then the (modified) K-functional with respect to , α > 0, is characterized via the associated resolvent R(λ;A). Under the assumption that the resolvent satisfies a Nikolskii type inequality, , for a suitable Banach space Y, an Ulyanov inequality is derived. This will be of interest if one has good control...
We study frequent hypercyclicity in the context of strongly continuous semigroups of operators. More precisely, we give a criterion (sufficient condition) for a semigroup to be frequently hypercyclic, whose formulation depends on the Pettis integral. This criterion can be verified in certain cases in terms of the infinitesimal generator of the semigroup. Applications are given for semigroups generated by Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operators, and especially for translation semigroups on weighted spaces of...
