Serdica Mathematical Journal

2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 49J40, 49J35, 58E30, 47H05We establish variational principles for monotone and maximal bifunctions of Brøndsted-Rockafellar type by using our characterization of bifunction’s maximality in reflexive Banach spaces. As applications, we give an existence result of saddle point for convex-concave function and solve an approximate inclusion governed by a maximal monotone operator.

The purpose of this paper is to establish some weak and strong convergence theorems of modified three-step iteration methods with errors with respect to a pair of nonexpansive and asymptotically nonexpansive mappings in uniformly convex Banach spaces. The results presented in this paper generalize, improve and unify a few results due to Chang [1], Liu and Kang [5], Osilike and Aniagbosor [7], Rhoades [8] and Schu [9], [10] and others. An example is included to demonstrate that our results are sharp....

Weakly continuous operators. Applications to differential equations

Jan Franců (1994)

Applications of Mathematics

The paper is a supplement to a survey by J. Franců: Monotone operators, A survey directed to differential equations, Aplikace Matematiky, 35(1990), 257–301. An abstract existence theorem for the equation A u = b with a coercive weakly continuous operator is proved. The application to boundary value problems for differential equations is illustrated on two examples. Although this generalization of monotone operator theory is not as general as the M-condition, it is sufficient for many technical applications....
