In this work we study the structure of approximate solutions of autonomous variational problems with a lower semicontinuous strictly convex integrand f : Rn×RnR1, where Rn is the n-dimensional Euclidean space. We obtain a full...
Existence of a solution of the problem of nonlinear elasticity with non-classical boundary conditions, when the relationship between the corresponding dual quantities is given in terms of a nonmonotone and generally multivalued relation. The mathematical formulation leads to a problem of non-smooth and nonconvex optimization, and in its weak form to hemivariational inequalities and to the determination of the so called substationary points of the given potential.
In this paper, we prove that the approximants naturally associated to a supremal functional -converge to it. This yields a lower semicontinuity result for supremal functionals whose supremand satisfy weak coercivity assumptions as well as a generalized Jensen inequality. The existence of minimizers for variational problems involving such functionals (together with a Dirichlet condition) then easily follows. In the scalar case we show the existence of at least one absolute minimizer (i.e. local...
In this paper, we prove that the Lp approximants naturally associated to a supremal functional Γ-converge to it.
