Almost c-spinorial geometry

Roland Púček (2017)

Archivum Mathematicum

Almost c-spinorial geometry arises as an interesting example of the metrisability problem for parabolic geometries. It is a complex analogue of real spinorial geometry. In this paper, we first define the type of parabolic geometry in question, then we discuss its underlying geometry and its homogeneous model. We compute irreducible components of the harmonic curvature and discuss the conditions for regularity. In the second part of the paper, we describe the linearisation of the metrisability problem...

An algorithm based on rolling to generate smooth interpolating curves on ellipsoids

Krzysztof Krakowski, Fátima Silva Leite (2014)

Kybernetika

We present an algorithm to generate a smooth curve interpolating a set of data on an n -dimensional ellipsoid, which is given in closed form. This is inspired by an algorithm based on a rolling and wrapping technique, described in [11] for data on a general manifold embedded in Euclidean space. Since the ellipsoid can be embedded in an Euclidean space, this algorithm can be implemented, at least theoretically. However, one of the basic steps of that algorithm consists in rolling the ellipsoid, over...

An Osserman-type condition on g.f.f-manifolds with Lorentz metric

Letizia Brunetti (2014)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

A condition of Osserman type, called the φ-null Osserman condition, is introduced and studied in the context of Lorentz globally framed f-manifolds. An explicit example shows the naturality of this condition in the setting of Lorentz 𝓢-manifolds. We prove that a Lorentz 𝓢-manifold with constant φ-sectional curvature is φ-null Osserman, extending a well-known result in the case of Lorentz Sasaki space forms. Then we state a characterization of a particular class of φ-null Osserman 𝓢-manifolds....

Anti-invariant Riemannian submersions from almost Hermitian manifolds

Bayram Ṣahin (2010)

Open Mathematics

We introduce anti-invariant Riemannian submersions from almost Hermitian manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds. We give an example, investigate the geometry of foliations which are arisen from the definition of a Riemannian submersion and check the harmonicity of such submersions. We also find necessary and sufficient conditions for a Langrangian Riemannian submersion, a special anti-invariant Riemannian submersion, to be totally geodesic. Moreover, we obtain decomposition theorems for the total manifold...

Application of spaces of subspheres to conformal invariants of curves and canal surfaces

Rémi Langevin, Jun O'Hara, Shigehiro Sakata (2013)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

We review some techniques from the Möbius geometry of curves and surfaces in the 3-sphere, consider canal surfaces using their characteristic circles, and express the conformal curvature, and conformal torsion, of a vertex-free space curve in terms of its corresponding curve of osculating circles, and osculating spheres, respectively. We accomplish all of this strictly within the framework of Möbius geometry, and compare our results with the literature. Finally, we show how our formulation allows...
