Every Lusin set is undetermined in the point-open game

Ireneusz Recław (1994)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

We show that some classes of small sets are topological versions of some combinatorial properties. We also give a characterization of spaces for which White has a winning strategy in the point-open game. We show that every Lusin set is undetermined, which solves a problem of Galvin.

Examples of sequential topological groups under the continuum hypothesis

Alexander Shibakov (1996)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Using CH we construct examples of sequential topological groups: 1. a pair of countable Fréchet topological groups whose product is sequential but is not Fréchet, 2. a countable Fréchet and α 1 topological group which contains no copy of the rationals.

Existence of positive periodic solutions of an SEIR model with periodic coefficients

Tailei Zhang, Junli Liu, Zhidong Teng (2012)

Applications of Mathematics

An SEIR model with periodic coefficients in epidemiology is considered. The global existence of periodic solutions with strictly positive components for this model is established by using the method of coincidence degree. Furthermore, a sufficient condition for the global stability of this model is obtained. An example based on the transmission of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is included.
