On a shock problem involving a nonlinear viscoelastic bar.
The paper deals with existence and uniqueness results and with the numerical solution of the nonsmooth variational problem describing a deflection of a thin annular plate with Neumann boundary conditions. Various types of the subsoil and the obstacle which influence the plate deformation are considered. Numerical experiments compare two different algorithms.
A hybrid flexible beam equation with harmonic disturbance at the end where a rigid tip body is attached is considered. A simple motor torque feedback control is designed for which only the measured time-dependent angle of rotation and its velocity are utilized. It is shown that this control can impel the amplitude of the attached rigid tip body tending to zero as time goes to infinity.

the existence of an -periodic solution of the equation sarisfying the boundary conditions is proved for every -periodic function .
We study the 3-D elasticity problem in the case of a non-symmetric heterogeneous rod. The asymptotic expansion of the solution is constructed. The coercitivity of the homogenized equation is proved. Estimates are derived for the difference between the truncated series and the exact solution.
A mechanical one-dimensional model which describes the dynamical behaviour of laminated curved beams is formulated. It is assumed that each lamina can be regarded as a Timoshenko's beam and that the rotations of the cross sections can differ from one lamina to another. The relative displacements at the interfaces of adjacent laminae are assumed to be zero. Consequently the model includes a shear deformability, due to the warping of the cross beam section consequent to the variability of the laminae...
Analysis of beam with thin open sections as cylindrical shells evidences restrictions of the Wagner-Vlasof theory: these mainly concern the fulfillment of end conditions. For the case of large deflections, the resultant equations from asymptotic analysis are presented. Their application to buckling under pure flexure shows various novel aspects. By a simple direct approach, investigation is pursued beyond the critical state: the buckled configuration turns out to be stable even for laxer constraints...
This article presents the principal results of the doctoral thesis “Direct Operational Methods in the Environment of a Computer Algebra System” by Margarita Spiridonova (Institute of mathematics and Informatics, BAS), successfully defended before the Specialised Academic Council for Informatics and Mathematical Modelling on 23 March, 2009.The presented research is related to the operational calculus approach and its representative applications. Operational methods are considered, as well as their...
