Elliptic curves on spinor varieties

Nicolas Perrin (2012)

Open Mathematics

We prove irreducibility of the scheme of morphisms, of degree large enough, from a smooth elliptic curve to spinor varieties. We give an explicit bound on the degree.

Energy decay rates for solutions of Maxwell's system with a memory boundary condition

Serge Nicaise, Cristina Pignotti (2007)

Collectanea Mathematica

We consider the stabilization of Maxwell's equations with space variable coefficients in a bounded region with a smooth boundary, subject to dissipative boundary conditions of memory type on the boundary. Under suitable conditions on the domain and on the permeability and permittivity coefficients, we prove the exponential/polynomial decay of the energy. Our result is mainly based on the use of the multipliers method and the introduction of a suitable Lyapounov functional.

Extremal properties for concealed-canonical algebras

Michael Barot, Dirk Kussin, Helmut Lenzing (2013)

Colloquium Mathematicae

Canonical algebras, introduced by C. M. Ringel in 1984, play an important role in the representation theory of finite-dimensional algebras. They also feature in many other mathematical areas like function theory, 3-manifolds, singularity theory, commutative algebra, algebraic geometry and mathematical physics. We show that canonical algebras are characterized by a number of interesting extremal properties (among concealed-canonical algebras, that is, the endomorphism rings of tilting bundles on...

Families of elliptic curves with genus 2 covers of degree 2.

Claus Diem (2006)

Collectanea Mathematica

We study genus 2 covers of relative elliptic curves over an arbitrary base in which 2 is invertible. Particular emphasis lies on the case that the covering degree is 2. We show that the data in the "basic construction" of genus 2 covers of relative elliptic curves determine the cover in a unique way (up to isomorphism).A classical theorem says that a genus 2 cover of an elliptic curve of degree 2 over a field of characteristic ≠ 2 is birational to a product of two elliptic curves over the projective...
