Non-unicité pour des opérateurs à caractéristiques simples
It is well-known that the “standard” oblique derivative problem, in , on ( is the unit inner normal) has a unique solution even when the boundary condition is not assumed to hold on the entire boundary. When the boundary condition is modified to satisfy an obliqueness condition, the behavior at a single boundary point can change the uniqueness result. We give two simple examples to demonstrate what can happen.
Our aim is to find roots of the non-unique behavior of gases which can be observed in certain axisymmetric nozzle geometries under special flow regimes. For this purpose, we use several versions of the compressible Euler equations. We show that the main reason for the non-uniqueness is hidden in the energy decomposition into its internal and kinetic parts, and their complementary behavior. It turns out that, at least for inviscid compressible flows, a bifurcation can occur only at flow regimes with...
We consider the implicit discretization of Nagumo equation on finite lattices and show that its variational formulation corresponds in various parameter settings to convex, mountain-pass or saddle-point geometries. Consequently, we are able to derive conditions under which the implicit discretization yields multiple solutions. Interestingly, for certain parameters we show nonuniqueness for arbitrarily small discretization steps. Finally, we provide a simple example showing that the nonuniqueness...
Models introduced by R. F. Streater describe the evolution of the density and temperature of a cloud of self-gravitating particles. We study nonuniqueness of steady states in annular domains in , d ≥ 2.
is a bounded open set of , of class and . In the cylinder we consider non variational basic operator where is a vector in , , which is continuous in and satisfies the condition (A). It is shown that the Cauchy-Dirichlet problem , in , has a unique solution. It is further shown that if is a solution of the basic system in , then and belong to . From this the Hölder continuity in of the vectors and are deduced respectively when and .
The purpose of this paper is to derive norm inequalities for potentials of the formTf(x) = ∫(Rn) f(y)K(x,y)dy, x ∈ Rn,when K is a Kernel which satisfies estimates like those that hold for the Green function associated with the degenerate elliptic equations studied in [3] and [4].
