Order boundedness and weak compactness of the set of quasi-measure extensions of a quasi-measure

Zbigniew Lipecki (2015)

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

Similarity:

Let 𝔐 and be algebras of subsets of a set Ω with 𝔐 , and denote by E ( μ ) the set of all quasi-measure extensions of a given quasi-measure μ on 𝔐 to . We give some criteria for order boundedness of E ( μ ) in b a ( ) , in the general case as well as for atomic μ . Order boundedness implies weak compactness of E ( μ ) . We show that the converse implication holds under some assumptions on 𝔐 , and μ or μ alone, but not in general.

Nearstandardness on a finite set

Lyantse V.

Similarity:

AbstractLet T be a finite set for which card T is a natural nonstandard number. The linear space T of complex-valued functions on T is nonstandard. For the analysis on T we need a concept of nearstandardness in this space. A version how to introduce such a concept is proposed. Some elementary examples are given. Univoque sets for real numbers

Fan Lü, Bo Tan, Jun Wu (2014)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Similarity:

For x ∈ (0,1), the univoque set for x, denoted (x), is defined to be the set of β ∈ (1,2) such that x has only one representation of the form x = x₁/β + x₂/β² + ⋯ with x i 0 , 1 . We prove that for any x ∈ (0,1), (x) contains a sequence β k k 1 increasing to 2. Moreover, (x) is a Lebesgue null set of Hausdorff dimension 1; both (x) and its closure ( x ) ¯ are nowhere dense.

Let 𝔐 and be algebras of subsets of a set Ω with 𝔐 , and denote by E ( μ ) the set of all quasi-measure extensions of a given quasi-measure μ on 𝔐 to . We show that E ( μ ) is order bounded if and only if it is contained in a principal ideal in b a ( ) if and only if it is weakly compact and extr E ( μ ) is contained in a principal ideal in b a ( ) . We also establish some criteria for the coincidence of the ideals, in b a ( ) , generated by E ( μ ) and extr E ( μ ) .

Generalization of the weak amenability on various Banach algebras

Madjid Eshaghi Gordji, Ali Jabbari, Abasalt Bodaghi (2019)

Mathematica Bohemica

Similarity:

The generalized notion of weak amenability, namely ( ϕ , ψ ) -weak amenability, where ϕ , ψ are continuous homomorphisms on a Banach algebra 𝒜 , was introduced by Bodaghi, Eshaghi Gordji and Medghalchi (2009). In this paper, the ( ϕ , ψ ) -weak amenability on the measure algebra M ( G ) , the group algebra L 1 ( G ) and the Segal algebra S 1 ( G ) , where G is a locally compact group, are studied. As a typical example, the ( ϕ , ψ ) -weak amenability of a special semigroup algebra is shown as well.

Boundedness of sublinear operators in Triebel-Lizorkin spaces via atoms

Similarity:

Let s ∈ ℝ, p ∈ (0,1] and q ∈ [p,∞). It is proved that a sublinear operator T uniquely extends to a bounded sublinear operator from the Triebel-Lizorkin space p , q s ( ) to a quasi-Banach space ℬ if and only if sup | | T ( a ) | | : a is an infinitely differentiable (p,q,s)-atom of p , q s ( ) < ∞, where the (p,q,s)-atom of p , q s ( ) is as defined by Han, Paluszyński and Weiss.

On an Invariant Borel Measure in Hilbert Space

G. Pantsulaia (2004)

Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Mathematics

Similarity:

An example of a nonzero σ-finite Borel measure μ with everywhere dense linear manifold μ of admissible (in the sense of invariance) translation vectors is constructed in the Hilbert space ℓ₂ such that μ and any shift μ ( a ) of μ by a vector a μ are neither equivalent nor orthogonal. This extends a result established in [7].

Some results on quasi-t-dual Baer modules

Let R be a ring and let M be an R -module with S = End R ( M ) . Consider the preradical Z ¯ for the category of right R -modules Mod- R introduced by Y. Talebi and N. Vanaja in 2002 and defined by Z ¯ ( M ) = { U M : M / U is small in its injective hull } . The module M is called quasi-t-dual Baer if ϕ ϕ ( Z ¯ 2 ( M ) ) is a direct summand of M for every two-sided ideal of S , where Z ¯ 2 ( M ) = Z ¯ ( Z ¯ ( M ) ) . In this paper, we show that M is quasi-t-dual Baer if and only if Z ¯ 2 ( M ) is a direct summand of M and Z ¯ 2 ( M ) is a quasi-dual Baer module. It is also shown that any direct...

Let be a Banach operator ideal. Based on the notion of -compactness in a Banach space due to Carl and Stephani, we deal with the notion of measure of non–compactness of an operator. We consider a map χ (respectively, n ) acting on the operators of the surjective (respectively, injective) hull of such that χ ( T ) = 0 (respectively, n ( T ) = 0 ) if and only if the operator T is -compact (respectively, injectively -compact). Under certain conditions on the ideal , we prove an equivalence inequality involving...

Characteristic points, rectifiability and perimeter measure on stratified groups

Valentino Magnani (2006)

Journal of the European Mathematical Society

Similarity:

We establish an explicit connection between the perimeter measure of an open set E with C 1 boundary and the spherical Hausdorff measure S Q 1 restricted to E , when the ambient space is a stratified group endowed with a left invariant sub-Riemannian metric and Q denotes the Hausdorff dimension of the group. Our formula implies that the perimeter measure of E is less than or equal to S Q 1 ( E ) up to a dimensional factor. The validity of this estimate positively answers a conjecture raised by Danielli,...

Norm continuity of pointwise quasi-continuous mappings

Similarity:

Let X be a Baire space, Y be a compact Hausdorff space and ϕ : X C p ( Y ) be a quasi-continuous mapping. For a proximal subset H of Y × Y we will use topological games 𝒢 1 ( H ) and 𝒢 2 ( H ) on Y × Y between two players to prove that if the first player has a winning strategy in these games, then ϕ is norm continuous on a dense G δ subset of X . It follows that if Y is Valdivia compact, each quasi-continuous mapping from a Baire space X to C p ( Y ) is norm continuous on a dense G δ subset of X .

Lattice copies of c₀ and in spaces of integrable functions for a vector measure

The spaces L¹(m) of all m-integrable (resp. L ¹ w ( m ) of all scalarly m-integrable) functions for a vector measure m, taking values in a complex locally convex Hausdorff space X (briefly, lcHs), are themselves lcHs for the mean convergence topology. Additionally, L ¹ w ( m ) is always a complex vector lattice; this is not necessarily so for L¹(m). To identify precisely when L¹(m) is also a complex vector lattice is one of our central aims. Whenever X is sequentially complete, then this is the case. If,...

Algebraic genericity of strict-order integrability

We provide sharp conditions on a measure μ defined on a measurable space X guaranteeing that the family of functions in the Lebesgue space L p ( μ , X ) (p ≥ 1) which are not q-integrable for any q > p (or any q < p) contains large subspaces of L p ( μ , X ) (without zero). This improves recent results due to Aron, García, Muñoz, Palmberg, Pérez, Puglisi and Seoane. It is also shown that many non-q-integrable functions can even be obtained on any nonempty open subset of X, assuming that X is a topological...

From restricted type to strong type estimates on quasi-Banach rearrangement invariant spaces

Let X be a quasi-Banach rearrangement invariant space and let T be an (ε,δ)-atomic operator for which a restricted type estimate of the form T χ E X D ( | E | ) for some positive function D and every measurable set E is known. We show that this estimate can be extended to the set of all positive functions f ∈ L¹ such that | | f | | 1 , in the sense that T f X D ( | | f | | ) . This inequality allows us to obtain strong type estimates for T on several classes of spaces as soon as some information about the galb of the space X is known....

Following Banakh and Gabriyelyan (2016) we say that a Tychonoff space X is an Ascoli space if every compact subset of C k ( X ) is evenly continuous; this notion is closely related to the classical Ascoli theorem. Every k -space, hence any k-space, is Ascoli. Let X be a metrizable space. We prove that the space C k ( X ) is Ascoli iff C k ( X ) is a k -space iff X is locally compact. Moreover, C k ( X ) endowed with the weak topology is Ascoli iff X is countable and discrete. Using some basic concepts from probability...
