Commutative group algebras of highly torsion-complete abelian p -groups

A new class of abelian p -groups with all high subgroups isomorphic is defined. Commutative modular and semisimple group algebras over such groups are examined. The results obtained continue our recent statements published in Comment. Math. Univ. Carolinae (2002).

Commutative modular group algebras of p -mixed and p -splitting abelian Σ -groups

Let G be a p -mixed abelian group and R is a commutative perfect integral domain of char R = p > 0 . Then, the first main result is that the group of all normalized invertible elements V ( R G ) is a Σ -group if and only if G is a Σ -group. Diagonal reductions of matrices over exchange ideals

In this paper, we introduce related comparability for exchange ideals. Let I be an exchange ideal of a ring R . If I satisfies related comparability, then for any regular matrix A M n ( I ) , there exist left invertible U 1 , U 2 M n ( R ) and right invertible V 1 , V 2 M n ( R ) such that U 1 V 1 A U 2 V 2 = diag ( e 1 , , e n ) for idempotents e 1 , , e n I .

Direct decompositions and basic subgroups in commutative group rings

An attractive interplay between the direct decompositions and the explicit form of basic subgroups in group rings of abelian groups over a commutative unitary ring are established. In particular, as a consequence, we give a simpler confirmation of a more general version of our recent result in this aspect published in Czechoslovak Math. J. (2006).

Exchange rings in which all regular elements are one-sided unit-regular

Let R be an exchange ring in which all regular elements are one-sided unit-regular. Then every regular element in R is the sum of an idempotent and a one-sided unit. Furthermore, we extend this result to exchange rings satisfying related comparability.

In this paper we investigate the related comparability over exchange rings. It is shown that an exchange ring R satisfies the related comparability if and only if for any regular x C R, there exists a related unit w C R and a group G in R such that wx C G.

Extensions of G M -rings

It is shown that a ring R is a G M -ring if and only if there exists a complete orthogonal set { e 1 , , e n } of idempotents such that all e i R e i are G M -rings. We also investigate G M -rings for Morita contexts, module extensions and power series rings.

G -nilpotent units of commutative group rings

Suppose R is a commutative unital ring and G is an abelian group. We give a general criterion only in terms of R and G when all normalized units in the commutative group ring R G are G -nilpotent. This extends recent results published in [Extracta Math., 2008–2009] and [Ann. Sci. Math. Québec, 2009].

Group algebras with centrally metabelian unit groups.

Given a field K of characteristic p > 2 and a finite group G, necessary and sufficient conditions for the unit group U(KG) of the group algebra KG to be centrally metabelian are obtained. It is observed that U(KG) is centrally metabelian if and only if KG is Lie centrally metabelian.
