Under an appropriate oscillating behaviour either at zero or at infinity of the nonlinear term, the existence of a sequence of weak solutions for an eigenvalue Dirichlet problem on the Sierpiński gasket is proved. Our approach is based on variational methods and on some analytic and geometrical properties of the Sierpiński fractal. The abstract results are illustrated by explicit examples.
We consider the theory of very weak solutions of the stationary Stokes system with nonhomogeneous boundary data and divergence in domains of half space type, such as , bent half spaces whose boundary can be written as the graph of a Lipschitz function, perturbed half spaces as local but possibly large perturbations of , and in aperture domains. The proofs are based on duality arguments and corresponding results for strong solutions in these domains, which have to be constructed in homogeneous...
We consider a class of fourth order elliptic systems which include the Euler-Lagrange equations of biharmonic mappings in dimension 4 and we prove that a weak limit of weak solutions to such systems is again a weak solution to a limit system.
In this paper we consider the following Dirichlet problem for elliptic systems:
where is a Dirac operator in Euclidean space, is defined in a bounded Lipschitz domain in and takes value in Clifford algebras. We first introduce variable exponent Sobolev spaces of Clifford-valued functions, then discuss the properties of these spaces and the related operator theory in these spaces. Using the Galerkin method, we obtain the existence of weak solutions to the scalar part of the above-mentioned...
We consider steady compressible Navier-Stokes-Fourier system in a bounded two-dimensional domain. We show the existence of a weak solution for arbitrarily large data for the pressure law if and if , , depending on the model for the heat flux.
In this paper we consider the initial
boundary value problem of a parabolic-elliptic system for image
inpainting, and establish the existence and uniqueness of weak
solutions to the system in dimension two.
We consider a model for transient conductive-radiative heat transfer in grey materials. Since the domain contains an enclosed cavity, nonlocal radiation boundary conditions for the conductive heat-flux are taken into account. We generalize known existence and uniqueness results to the practically relevant case of lower integrable heat-sources, and of nonsmooth interfaces. We obtain energy estimates that involve only the norm of the heat sources for exponents close to one. Such estimates are...
The paper concerns uniqueness of weak solutions to non-Newtonian fluids with nonstandard growth conditions for the Cauchy stress tensor. We recall the results on existence of weak solutions and additionally provide the proof of existence of measure-valued solutions. Motivated by the fluids of strongly inhomogeneous behaviour and having the property of rapid shear thickening we observe that the described situation cannot be captured by power-law-type rheology. We describe the growth conditions with...
