L∞(L2) and L∞(L∞) error estimates for mixed methods for integro-differential equations of parabolic type

Ziwen Jiang (2010)

ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis

Error estimates in L∞(0,T;L2(Ω)), L∞(0,T;L2(Ω)2), L∞(0,T;L∞(Ω)), L∞(0,T;L∞(Ω)2), Ω in 2 , are derived for a mixed finite element method for the initial-boundary value problem for integro-differential equation u t = div { a u + 0 t b 1 u d τ + 0 t 𝐜 u d τ } + f based on the Raviart-Thomas space Vh x Wh ⊂ H(div;Ω) x L2(Ω). Optimal order estimates are obtained for the approximation of u,ut in L∞(0,T;L2(Ω)) and the associated velocity p in L∞(0,T;L2(Ω)2), divp in L∞(0,T;L2(Ω)). Quasi-optimal order estimates are obtained for the approximation...

Local center manifold for parabolic equations with infinite delay

Hana Petzeltová (1994)

Mathematica Bohemica

The existence and attractivity of a local center manifold for fully nonlinear parabolic equation with infinite delay is proved with help of a solutions semigroup constructed on the space of initial conditions. The result is applied to the stability problem for a parabolic integrodifferential equation.

Mathematical and numerical analysis of radiative heat transfer in semi-transparent media

Yao-Chuang Han, Yu-Feng Nie, Zhan-Bin Yuan (2019)

Applications of Mathematics

This paper is concerned with mathematical and numerical analysis of the system of radiative integral transfer equations. The existence and uniqueness of solution to the integral system is proved by establishing the boundedness of the radiative integral operators and proving the invertibility of the operator matrix associated with the system. A collocation-boundary element method is developed to discretize the differential-integral system. For the non-convex geometries, an element-subdivision algorithm...

Mathematical modeling of the competition between acquired immunity and cancer

Mikhail Kolev (2003)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

In this paper we propose and analyse a model of the competition between cancer and the acquired immune system. The model is a system of integro-differential bilinear equations. The role of the humoral response is analyzed. The simulations are related to the immunotherapy of tumors with antibodies.

Maximal regularity for abstract parabolic problems with inhomogeneous boundary data in  L p -spaces

Jan Prüss (2002)

Mathematica Bohemica

Several abstract model problems of elliptic and parabolic type with inhomogeneous initial and boundary data are discussed. By means of a variant of the Dore-Venni theorem, real and complex interpolation, and trace theorems, optimal L p -regularity is shown. By means of this purely operator theoretic approach, classical results on L p -regularity of the diffusion equation with inhomogeneous Dirichlet or Neumann or Robin condition are recovered. An application to a dynamic boundary value problem with surface...

Maximum Principle and Its Application for the Time-Fractional Diffusion Equations

Luchko, Yury (2011)

Fractional Calculus and Applied Analysis

MSC 2010: 26A33, 33E12, 35B45, 35B50, 35K99, 45K05 Dedicated to Professor Rudolf Gorenflo on the occasion of his 80th anniversaryIn the paper, maximum principle for the generalized time-fractional diffusion equations including the multi-term diffusion equation and the diffusion equation of distributed order is formulated and discussed. In these equations, the time-fractional derivative is defined in the Caputo sense. In contrast to the Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative, the Caputo fractional...

Monte Carlo Random Walk Simulations Based on Distributed Order Differential Equations with Applications to Cell Biology

Andries, Erik, Umarov, Sabir, Steinberg, Stanly (2006)

Fractional Calculus and Applied Analysis

Mathematics Subject Classification: 65C05, 60G50, 39A10, 92C37In this paper the multi-dimensional Monte-Carlo random walk simulation models governed by distributed fractional order differential equations (DODEs) and multi-term fractional order differential equations are constructed. The construction is based on the discretization leading to a generalized difference scheme (containing a finite number of terms in the time step and infinite number of terms in the space step) of the Cauchy problem for...
