Comparaison de l'orthogonalité de diminnie aux orthogonalités de type Carlsson.
We prove an abstract comparison principle which translates gaussian cotype into Rademacher cotype conditions and vice versa. More precisely, let 2 < q < ∞ and T: C(K) → F a continuous linear operator. (1) T is of gaussian cotype q if and only if , for all sequences with decreasing. (2) T is of Rademacher cotype q if and only if , for all sequences with decreasing. Our method allows a restriction to a fixed number of vectors and complements the corresponding results of Talagrand.
Last years, the search for a good theory of quantum dynamical entropy has been very much intensified. This is not only due to its usefulness in quantum probability but mainly because it is a very promising tool for the theory of quantum chaos. Nowadays, there are several constructions which try to fulfill this need, some of which are more mathematically inspired such as CNT (Connes, Narnhofer, Thirring), and the one proposed by Voiculescu, others are more inspired by physics such as ALF (Alicki,...
Let A = (aij) ∊ Mn(ℝ) be an n by n symmetric stochastic matrix. For p ∊ [1, ∞) and a metric space (X, dX), let γ(A, dpx) be the infimum over those γ ∊ (0,∞] for which every x1, . . . , xn ∊ X satisfy [...] Thus γ (A, dpx) measures the magnitude of the nonlinear spectral gap of the matrix A with respect to the kernel dpX : X × X →[0,∞). We study pairs of metric spaces (X, dX) and (Y, dY ) for which there exists Ψ: (0,∞)→(0,∞) such that γ (A, dpX) ≤Ψ (A, dpY ) for every symmetric stochastic A ∊ Mn(ℝ)...
Orlicz-Lorentz spaces provide a common generalization of Orlicz spaces and Lorentz spaces. They have been studied by many authors, including Mastyło, Maligranda, and Kamińska. In this paper, we consider the problem of comparing the Orlicz-Lorentz norms, and establish necessary and sufficient conditions for them to be equivalent. As a corollary, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for a Lorentz-Sharpley space to be equivalent to an Orlicz space, extending results of Lorentz and Raynaud. We...
Compatible topologies and bornologies on modules are introduced and studied.
For a locally convex space E we prove that the space of n-symmetric tensors is complemented in the space of (n+1)-symmetric tensors endowed with the projective topology. Applications and related results are also given.
Our aim here is to announce some properties of complementation for spaces of symmetric tensor products and homogeneous continuous polynomials on a locally convex space E that have, in particular, consequences in the study of the property (BB)n,s recently introduced by Dineen [8].
Does a given Banach space have any non-trivial complemented subspaces? Usually, the answer is: yes, quite a lot. Sometimes the answer is: no, none at all.
