Fuzzy controllers have been proven to be universal, that is, they can provide any control surface. Their microelectronic implementation is very suitable to achieve high-speed (real-time operation), and low area and power consumption. This paper focuses on discussing the two basic approaches that can be employed to design programmable universal controller integrated circuits. Analog, mixed-signal and digital realizations are summarized and compared.
In this survey paper some recent results on the minimality problem for positive realizations are discussed. In particular, it is firstly shown, by means of some examples, that the minimal dimension of a positive realization of a given transfer function, may be much “larger” than its McMillan degree. Then, necessary and sufficient conditions for the minimality of a given positive realization in terms of positive factorization of the Hankel matrix are given. Finally, necessary and sufficient conditions...
The realization problem for positive multivariable discrete-time systems with one time delay is formulated and solved. Conditions for the solvability of the realization problem are established. A procedure for the computation of a minimal positive realization of a proper rational matrix is presented and illustrated by an example.
This paper presents an overview of some recent results concerning the emerging theory of minimax LQG control for uncertain systems with a relative entropy constraint uncertainty description. This is an important new robust control system design methodology providing minimax optimal performance in terms of a quadratic cost functional. The paper first considers some standard uncertainty descriptions to motivate the relative entropy constraint uncertainty description. The minimax LQG problem under...
