On determining unknown functions in differential systems, with an application to biological reactors.

Éric Busvelle, Jean-Paul Gauthier (2010)

ESAIM: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations

In this paper, we consider general nonlinear systems with observations, containing a (single) unknown function φ. We study the possibility to learn about this unknown function via the observations: if it is possible to determine the [values of the] unknown function from any experiment [on the set of states visited during the experiment], and for any arbitrary input function, on any time interval, we say that the system is “identifiable”. For systems without controls, we give a more or less complete...

On nonlinear equivalence and backstepping observer

J. de Leon, I. Souleiman, Alain Glumineau, G. Schreier (2001)

Kybernetika

An observer design based on backstepping approach for a class of state affine systems is proposed. This class of nonlinear systems is determined via a constructive algorithm applied to a general nonlinear Multi Input–Multi Output systems. Some examples are given in order to illustrate the proposed methodology.

On the best observation of wave and Schrödinger equations in quantum ergodic billiards

Yannick Privat, Emmanuel Trélat, Enrique Zuazua (2012)

Journées Équations aux dérivées partielles

This paper is a proceedings version of the ongoing work [20], and has been the object of the talk of the second author at Journées EDP in 2012.In this work we investigate optimal observability properties for wave and Schrödinger equations considered in a bounded open set Ω n , with Dirichlet boundary conditions. The observation is done on a subset ω of Lebesgue measure | ω | = L | Ω | , where L ( 0 , 1 ) is fixed. We denote by 𝒰 L the class of all possible such subsets. Let T > 0 . We consider first the benchmark problem of maximizing...

On the null-controllability of diffusion equations

Gérald Tenenbaum, Marius Tucsnak (2011)

ESAIM: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations

This work studies the null-controllability of a class of abstract parabolic equations. The main contribution in the general case consists in giving a short proof of an abstract version of a sufficient condition for null-controllability which has been proposed by Lebeau and Robbiano. We do not assume that the control operator is admissible. Moreover, we give estimates of the control cost. In the special case of the heat equation in rectangular domains, we provide an alternative way to check...

On the observability of fuzzy second order control systems

Jong Yeoul Park, P. Balasubramaniam, Hyun Min Kim (2003)

Kybernetika

In this paper, the observability of fuzzy logic second order control system is studied from the aspect of fuzzy differential equations. The fuzzy observability in the weak sense is created using the concept of “likelihood” to indicate on which level and along which solution the state is most likely observable. One of the initial state range has been derived with the given input and output. The result generalizes the previous results.

On the state observation and stability for uncertain nonlinear systems

Mohamed Ali Hammami (2000)

Kybernetika

In this paper, we treat the class of nonlinear uncertain dynamic systems that was considered in [3,2,1,4]. We consider continuous-time dynamical systems whose nominal part is linear and whose uncertain part is norm-bounded. We study the problems of state observation and obtaining stabilizing controller for uncertain nonlinear systems, where the uncertainties are characterized by known bounds.

Optimal control of linear stochastic evolution equations in Hilbert spaces and uniform observability

Viorica Mariela Ungureanu (2009)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

In this paper we study the existence of the optimal (minimizing) control for a tracking problem, as well as a quadratic cost problem subject to linear stochastic evolution equations with unbounded coefficients in the drift. The backward differential Riccati equation (BDRE) associated with these problems (see [chen], for finite dimensional stochastic equations or [UC], for infinite dimensional equations with bounded coefficients) is in general different from the conventional BDRE (see [1990], [ukl])....

Optimal observability of the multi-dimensional wave and Schrödinger equations in quantum ergodic domains

Yannick Privat, Emmanuel Trélat, Enrique Zuazua (2016)

Journal of the European Mathematical Society

We consider the wave and Schrödinger equations on a bounded open connected subset Ω of a Riemannian manifold, with Dirichlet, Neumann or Robin boundary conditions whenever its boundary is nonempty. We observe the restriction of the solutions to a measurable subset ω of Ω during a time interval [ 0 , T ] with T > 0 . It is well known that, if the pair ( ω , T ) satisfies the Geometric Control Condition ( ω being an open set), then an observability inequality holds guaranteeing that the total energy of solutions can be...

Optimization of the shape and the location of the actuators in an internal control problem

Antoine Henrot, Hervé Maillot (2001)

Bollettino dell'Unione Matematica Italiana
