A contribution to the parameter estimation of a certain class of dynamical systems
The solutions to the Rational Covariance Extension Problem (RCEP) are parameterized by the spectral zeros. The rational filter with a specified numerator solving the RCEP can be determined from a known convex optimization problem. However, this optimization problem may become ill-conditioned for some parameter values. A modification of the optimization problem to avoid the ill-conditioning is proposed and the modified problem is solved efficiently by a continuation method.
A new modified state variable diagram method is proposed for determination of positive realizations of linear continuoustime systems with delays in state and input vectors. Using the method, it is possible to find a positive realization with reduced numbers of delays for a given transfer matrix. Sufficient conditions for the existence of positive realizations of given proper transfer matrices are established. The proposed method is demonstrated on numerical examples.
A realization problem for positive, continuous-time linear systems with reduced numbers of delays in state and in control is formulated and solved. Sufficient conditions for the existence of positive realizations with reduced numbers of delays of a given proper transfer function are established. A procedure for the computation of positive realizations with reduced numbers of delays is presented and illustrated by an example.
We address the numerically reliable computation of generalized inverses of rational matrices in descriptor state-space representation. We put particular emphasis on two classes of inverses: the weak generalized inverse and the Moore-Penrose pseudoinverse. By combining the underlying computational techniques, other types of inverses of rational matrices can be computed as well. The main computational ingredient to determine generalized inverses is the orthogonal reduction of the system matrix pencil...
This contribution deals with the discrete-time linear state models of pure deadtime multi-input, multi-output dynamic processes. A straightforward way is presented to obtain minimum-dimensional state realizations of these processes.
This paper highlights the role of the rank of a differential one-form in the solution of such nonlinear control problems via measurement feedback as disturbance decoupling problem of multi-input single output (MISO) systems. For the later problem, some necessary conditions and sufficient conditions are given.
The problem of the existence and determination of the set of Metzler matrices for given stable polynomials is formulated and solved. Necessary and sufficient conditions are established for the existence of the set of Metzler matrices for given stable polynomials. A procedure for finding the set of Metzler matrices for given stable polynomials is proposed and illustrated with numerical examples.
